The leadership of the Republican Party has cultivated voters’ support for racist policies, anti-democratic rule, and cruelty to compassion. After the initial announcement that Trump was responsible for inciting the January 6 rebellion, Senator Mitch McConnell and Representative Kevin McCarthy began to play down the rebellion in order to restore good relations with Trump. They shifted from defending democracy to supporting attempts to destroy it, which determined their legacy as American traitors. From the very beginning, MAGA politics belittled the ethics and values ingrained in American identity. The Trump era has exposed the dark side of human nature, corruption has become normal, charity and greed have risen, and the rule of law has weakened. It has elevated psychologically and morally disturbed people such as Steve Bannon, William Barr, and Steven Miller to power, all in a political agenda for the pursuit of white identity.
Trump voters and Republican Governors Rick DeSantis and Greg Abbott have a cruel, selfish, and non-Christian attitude towards the boycott of wearing masks and the authorization stance against wearing masks example of. The acceptance of criminals being hired into the Trump administration has made the party known as corrupt in its pursuit of policy power. The democratic norms that Senator Mitch McConnell broke show that the Republicans refuse to accept the essence of our American democratic values. He broke the norms in order to seize power, and the result of his policy strategy is the same as Trump’s “big lie” and repeated violations of the constitution, causing damage to the country. McConnell’s abuse of power and vicious hypocrisy is shocking, and his blatant arrogance and disregard for decency and patriotism. He is a relic of the past, echoing the worst of racism and extreme white corrupt political behavior. He supports Mickey, supports money, supports Russia and supports autocracy.
The denial and naivety of MAGA voters is shocking. The party’s blatant hypocrisy is obvious to anyone who is willing to pay attention to and put aside their admiration and blind loyalty. Mitch McConnell is an architect of political hypocrisy. In 2018, he revised the obstruction bill to allow Neil Gorsuch to be appointed as a Supreme Court judge, but when considering changing the obstruction bill to pass voter protection legislation, he also called on Democrats to seize power. He refused to consider the Supreme Court Justice Merrick Garland nominated by President Obama. He claimed to be too close to the next presidential election, and there are still eight months before the next presidential election. However, with only a few weeks left before the 2020 presidential election, he quickly submitted Trump’s nominated Amy Coney-Barrett to the Supreme Court. He used the process of reconciliation to pass conservative legislation, but referred to the unfair partisanship of the Democratic Party using the same process. Hypocrisy should be a disqualification for any elected official. It is dishonest, manipulative, and lacks the integrity required to properly manage democracy.
The Republican Party has become a political party that supports the president’s right to incite thugs to rush into the Capitol in an attempt to illegally block the certification process for the next fair election of the U.S. president. They are parties that use conspiracy theories to gain basic support. When its members commit a violation of their oath of office, they are the party to accept it. They are parties that abandon their principles and pursue the kind of power that ignores the prerequisites of the democratic two-party system. The party allowed itself to be taken over by the corrupt and incompetent Donald Trump and his authoritarian ideology. In order to restore its soul, members of the anti-Trumpist Republican Party should form a new Conservative Party that rejects the current corruption and immorality of the remnants of the Republican Party’s depravity. The survival of democracy depends on it.
