Canadian-American singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette will finally celebrate the 28th anniversary of her most recognized and iconic album, Jagged Little Pill, with her special one-night concert at the Mall of Asia Arena on August 1, 2023 .
Her upcoming show in Manila, part of her tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her album, was originally scheduled for April 2020 at the MOA Arena but rescheduled to December 2021 and November 2022. The shows have been postponed Three years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jagged Little Pill straddles the line between Gen-X cynicism and self-actualization, capturing the mid-90s zeitgeist. It’s somewhere between glitzy mainstream pop and angst-ridden alternative rock. The album produced a string of top 10 hits such as “You Oughta Know”, “Hand in My Pocket” and “Ironic”. It also won five Grammys, including Album of the Year. The album made 21-year-old Morissette the youngest performer ever to receive the honor, and was ranked No. 69 on Rolling Stone’s “500 Best Albums of All Time.”
In all, Morissette has won seven Grammy Awards and been nominated fourteen times. Her best songs include “You Learn”, “Head to Toe”, “All I Really Want”, “Thank You”, “Mary Jane”, “Uninvited”, “Perfect”, “Forgive”, “Through You,” “Wake Up,” and more.
Since 1995, she has been one of the most influential creative musicians in contemporary music. Her expressive music and performances have received widespread praise from critics. Jagged Little Pill was Morissette’s debut album in 1995, and nine eclectic and critically acclaimed albums followed. JAGGED LITTLE PILL the musical made its Broadway debut on December 5, 2019 at the Broadhurst Theater in New York City. The show was nominated for 15 Tony Awards and won 2 Tony Awards at the 2021 ceremony. In July 2020, Alanis released her ninth studio album, Such Pretty Forks In The Road, to rave reviews. In August 2021, Alanis embarks on her sold-out world tour celebrating Jagged Little Pill’s 25th anniversary. The tour became the number one female vocal tour of 2021 and one of the top global tours of 2021, selling over 500,000 tickets. Alanis also stars on Fox’s sitcom “The Great North,” which returns for a third season in 2022.
