Binx the cat is a resident on the ninth floor of Champlain Towers South. He was found alive and reunited with his family on Friday more than two weeks after the building collapsed.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said in a statement that volunteers found Binx near the rubble at the collapse site. Press conference.
The mayor said: “After 16 long and extremely difficult days, I am very happy to be able to share a little good news,” he announced that Binx had been reunited with his family a few hours ago.

One of the volunteers discovered Binx and thought they recognized him. He was taken to a local animal shelter and confirmed as a family member in the building.
Levin Kava said: “I’m very happy that this little miracle can bring some light to the life of an injured family today and provide a bright spot for our entire community in this terrible tragedy.”
The 12-story Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida collapsed in the early morning of June 24, triggering a two-week rescue operation. Turned into a recycling task on Wednesday.
