Blockade: Scotland is expected to lift most restrictions on August 9

Scotland will lift the blockade restrictions next month.

Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s chief minister, said that the country is still expected to lift almost all Covid-19 restrictions by August 9, but that masks will still be required for some time after that.

“We have previously stated that we hope to surpass level zero on August 9, and this is still our expectation,” Sturgeon said at a briefing on Tuesday.

Sturgeon stated that masks will still be mandatory even after most other restrictions are lifted as part of its prudent approach. This is different from the regulations in England, which will no longer require masks from July 19.

She added that from July 19, all areas of Scotland will enter the “zero level” restriction, but some changes have been made to its original plan to ensure that the rules are removed more gradually.
