The British government announced that British musicians and performers will be able to tour various European countries without visas or work permits.
The regulations that came into effect at the beginning of this year do not guarantee visa-free travel for musicians in the European Union, and raise concerns that touring artists will incur high fees in many of the countries they visit.
However, the Ministry of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) stated that it has negotiated with 19 EU member states to allow British musicians and performers Visa-free travel for short distances.
These countries are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden.
The government stated that it is negotiating with other EU countries, including Spain, Portugal and Greece, to align their arrangements with those in the UK, allowing touring performers and support personnel to visit for up to three months without visas. .
DCMS said in a statement: “We hope that outstanding British performers and other creative professionals can easily travel abroad. We recognize that there are still challenges to touring, and we will continue to work closely with the industry.
“We want to ensure that after the Covid-19 restriction is lifted, the tour can resume, and our world’s leading creative and cultural artists can continue to travel extensively, learn their craft, expand the audience, and show the world the best creativity in Britain. “
After months of campaigning for musicians Sir Elton John With Ed Sheeran about the post-Brexit tour, John previously warned that these rules threaten “a generation of talent.”
