Florida Rep. Stephanie Murphy, one of nine members of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riots, said she was “proud” to be a member of the panel and called her work “important” Defend our democracy.”
As the first Vietnamese-American woman to be elected to Congress, Murphy said that while the riots were “shocking,” perhaps “the most insidious thing” happened before the uprising.
Murphy said she wants people to “not watch the hearings as Democrats, Republicans or independents, but listen as Americans about how elected politicians want to retain power and ignore the will of the people. fact.”

Former Atlanta U.S. Attorney Byung “BJay” Pak testified before the committee on June 13 that he found no evidence to support false claims of voter fraud in Georgia and resigned under pressure from former President Donald Trump.
He said the former president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s claims were “false,” and his successor had found no evidence to support many of the claims that sought to undermine Georgia’s election results.
Giuliani’s main claim baseless alleges that “ballot suitcases” were illegally counted at the Fulton County State Farm Arena, and election workers deliberately scanned a batch of ballots multiple times to alter the election results.
Parker said then-Attorney General William Barr asked him to investigate the claims before Barr might have to discuss them at the White House.
“We found suitcases full of ballots, supposedly black suitcases pulled from under the table, were actually in an official lockbox, and ballots were safe,” he said. “Unfortunately, at the Senate hearing, At the meeting, Mr. Giuliani only showed a video showing them pulling the official ballot box from under the table and calling it a Fulton County fraud. Giuliani’s claims were debunked almost immediately by election officials, who explained that nothing illegal or unpleasant had happened — and investigations by the FBI, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other agencies had concluded.
The day Pak’s testimony came out painted a picture that most of Trump’s advisers and confidants knew the election wasn’t stolen, that many of the claims Trump promoted were false, but Trump seemed to ignore those advisers, And favored the likes of Giuliani and attorney Sidney Powell, both now facing lawsuits for false claims about voting machines and election results post-2020.
Georgia has so far played a major role in the Jan. 6 committee process, with Secretary of State Brad Raffinsburg and his top deputies to testify at future hearings.
