General Mark Milli, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, testified that he did not see the speeding Taliban truck coming. Obviously, he did not see Afghanistan’s rapid and nearly complete collapse.
This is an amazing and frankly cursive admission. The United States has the most powerful intelligence agency on the planet. We have civil and military electronic surveillance that everyone envy. Even if the best electronics and human intelligence are not available for him to use, people will think that General Milli, who has decades of experience, should have foreseeably seen this coming disaster. If he didn’t see the upcoming wreckage, he should resign. If he does see it happening and testifies to the contrary, he should resign.
If he really did not see the disaster hitting him quickly, he is not suitable for his current position, and he should resign.
Leftists like to criticize people like me. The usual lazy insult is “Oh, you hypocrite, you loved the military when Trump was in power.” My family served in the US Army and returned to the War of Independence—the most recent one was my eldest son, who served in the SEALs for nearly ten years. I do not criticize men and women who are in danger, I criticize those who lead them.
I criticize politicians and incompetent generals. Millie obviously has both. According to my estimation, when he testified that he wanted to “understand the anger of white people”, he was no longer a “man’s leader”. He claimed that “anger fueled January 6day riot. The testimony just six weeks ago is completely outside the responsibility of our military. His focus should be on our enemies abroad. He should have been concerned about a very real anger-the Taliban will soon engulf Afghanistan. He should have focused his “understanding” on the emergencies that keep Americans out of danger, lest Afghanistan become a burning cauldron. On the contrary, we have thousands of Americans trapped outside of barbed wire.
If General Milli didn’t see the speeding truck hitting us like a bug on the grill, he would need to resign.
