College football is finally ready to start in Week 1 of the 2021 season. Even at the beginning of this year, there are several key games that will have a serious impact on the college football playoffs.
The week 1 schedule includes five games between the teams ranked in the AP’s top 25 votes. The defending national champion and the country’s No. 1 team Alabama will face the top 15 opponents on the Neutral Field. The same is true for Clemson, who is ranked third, and he will immediately compete with a national championship contender.
Ranked No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Ohio State University, and No. 6 Texas A&M are expected to play against unranked opponents.
Clemson and No. 5 Georgia will play the biggest game of the season at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Although the No. 1 draft pick Trevor Lawrence lost to the NFL, the Tigers are not only favored by shooting percentage. Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is one of the preseason favorites to win the Heisman Trophy.
Although Miami, ranked 14th, played in a game away from home, it is expected that Alabama’s first game will not have much trouble. The Red Tide team was favored for nearly three touchdowns in Atlanta’s game against Miami. Since 1958, Alabama has not been defeated in a neutral season opener.
There are a pair of key ten matchups featuring the top 10 teams. Wisconsin, ranked 12th, played home against Pennsylvania State University, ranked 19th, and Indiana, ranked 17th, was at a disadvantage in the away game against 18th Iowa State.
