DThe number of extreme violence in Hessen almost doubled last year. It rose from 41 in 2019 to 79.This was announced by the Minister of the Interior of the State of Hesse Peter Boss (CDU) and the Chairman of the National Office of Constitutional Protection Robert Schäfer (Robert Schäfer) published the 2020 Constitutional Protection Report in Wiesbaden on Tuesday. In 2020, there were 42 acts of right-wing extremist violence in Hessen (2019: 31); according to Beuth, one of them was the murder of Hanau; in February 2020, a right-wing extremist murdered in Hanau 9 people with immigration background.

Beuth and Schäfer warned that right-wing extremists are using the coronavirus pandemic to achieve their goals and are staged as partners in the fight against these measures. Beuth said that during the “horizontal thinker” demonstration, protesters marched side by side with prominent right-wing extremists who tried to “attack our constitutional order.”
Schäfer said that part of the protest movement was not about wearing masks and other demands, but about “defying” democracy. “Conspiracy theory” has an “unprecedented cause” in the epidemic, “going out of the niche and entering the public eye.” According to the chairman of the National Constitutional Protection Office, this is a “radicalization accelerator.”
