Click. read. Love. 5.27.22 | Jesse Ann Kirby

I’ve written an introduction to today’s CRL in a million different ways, and nothing feels quite right. How do you even find words to try and capture your feelings when you face such a huge tragedy time and time again. A tragedy you know could have been avoided if it wasn’t for politicians clinging to power and pocketing NRA money. It’s really disgusting to think about. Yet we are still expected to move on and show up at work and in life as if it were just another day in America. Sadly.

This is Memorial Day weekend, an important holiday honoring those who served in our military. I can’t stop thinking about what I’ve read this week. Americans have done more harm to fellow Americans than any foreign enemy. “Over the past 50 years, more than 1.5 million people have been killed by gunfire, compared to 1.2 million of all wars in the country’s history. This year alone, more than 1,800 people have been killed or injured in mass shootings.“This is not about undoing the sacrifice of any military member or his family, but about acknowledging the seriousness of the gun violence crisis in this country. There are no holidays to honor the victims of gun violence.”

With so much tragedy and loss, I keep coming back to the podcast episode From Brené Brown and Karen Walrond’s article on having fun and finding connection in the struggle. “Getting happiness and getting gratitude is what reminds us to fight for it.” Don’t forget to find your happiness pocket. We still have a long way to go. We cannot raise our hands or bury our heads in the sand. Finding our own strength and fighting for the future our children (and all of us) deserve has never been more important. As the saying goes, an empty cup cannot be poured. take care of yourself. Have a safe and happy weekend.

If you’re looking for something to buy, try, read, share or pin, we’ve got you covered. Here are the best of the week…
