DThe 7-day incidence of new crown infections nationwide has risen again. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Monday morning, citing information provided by health authorities, the current incidence rate within 7 days is 84.3 per 100,000 residents. Last Monday, the value was still 75.8.
4749 new infections were reported within 24 hours. According to information related to the coronavirus infection, the other eight people died. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the death toll in Germany is now 92,354.
To date, the incidence of new infections has been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the Federal Emergency Brake that expires at the end of June. In the future, more consideration will be given to other values such as the number of admissions.
Hospitalization report
The number of corona patients admitted to the hospital per 100,000 residents per 100,000 residents provided by RKI last Friday was 1.83 (the previous day was 1.74). Because of the large regional differences, there is no national threshold for when the hospitalization rate can be viewed critically. The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas.
The 7-day morbidity rate is calculated based on the RKI information based on the date reported to the local health department. According to this, the average interval from infection to hospitalization is about ten days, so this value reflects the infection with a significant delay.
According to RKI data, a total of 4,010,390 cases of Sars-CoV-2 infection were detected. According to RKI data, the number of people who have recovered is approximately 3,775,500. The incidence rate has been on the rise for several weeks.
According to RKI, Germany is now at the beginning of the fourth corona wave. This time, the younger group was also severely affected.
Medical staff want uniform quarantine rules
In view of the development of the situation, German public medical officials demanded uniform national isolation regulations for school infection cases. “Because of the many different isolation rules, there is a lot of uncertainty between parents and teachers,” said Ute Teichert, president of the Federal Public Health Service Doctors Association and newspaper of the Funke Media Group.
In some cases, there are not only different procedures between countries, but also different procedures between various health authorities. “The federal states urgently need to agree on national quarantine rules for schools,” Teichert said. “This creates safety and promotes acceptance of these measures.”
