review – Replicators are no longer just what you see in sci-fi movies. With a 3D printer, you can imagine, model and print. If you wanted to jump into 3D printing but didn’t make the leap out of fear it was too hard to figure out, I have a 3D printer to show you today that might change your mind. It is the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer, simple, compact and quiet. Let’s take a closer look.

Design and Features
The Creality Sermoon 3D printer is available in two versions. There are V1 and V1 Pro. I received a V1 Pro. The difference is that the V1 doesn’t have a built-in remote viewing camera or auto-stop door sensor like the Pro version.
As you can see, the printer is a completely enclosed unit, which is great because the fumes from melting the filament are contained inside the printer and not in your room. This design also helps make printing less noisy than traditional open frame 3D printers.
The front of the Creality Sermoon 3D printer has a magnetic locking door, an SD card slot, and a touchscreen display for controlling the printer.
On top of the printer is a removable clear cover that gives you access to the filament tube.
The only “assembly” you need to do before using the printer for the first time is to remove a few zip ties and the foam block you can see on the right in the picture above. Creality even includes a pair of scissors that can be used to cut ties. Just be careful not to cut out the important stuff.
This printer has a magnetic bed that pulls out so you can bend it to take out finished prints. Remember not to touch the bed itself, as your fingers will transfer dirt and grease onto it, which will prevent the filament from sticking to the bed.
The right side of the unit has the feed tube for the filament and below it is the folded filament spool holder.
Behind the folding arm is the reset switch.
The back of the Creality Sermoon 3D printer has a power switch, power cord connector, and a voltage selector switch.
If you bought this printer and live in the US, it is important to switch the voltage switch to 115V because by default it is set to 230V.
Let’s print with the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer
As mentioned, the Creality Sermoon 3D printer comes fully assembled, so you’ll be ready to print within minutes of taking it out of the box. All you need to do is cut the cable ties inside the printer, place the included filament spool on the stand, and feed the end of the filament into the tube on the side of the printer.
The filament will be fed through the sleeve inside the printer, then press and hold the spring loaded button on top of the printhead and feed the filament into place.
Then, plug in the printer, flip the power button to ON (after you’ve double-checked the correct voltage selection), and follow the prompts on the touchscreen on the front of the printer.
The system will instruct you to load the filament, then heat the nozzle so that the filament comes out.

The Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer comes with an SD card that contains a manual, instructional videos, filament information, slicing software and some printable models. For my first print, I chose the PLA_Ship model, aka Benchy. This boat-shaped model is the equivalent of a “hello world” program created by a 3D printer for programmers.
The touchscreen provides visual indicators of bed and nozzle temperature and a progress bar of the current print.
How loud is the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer?
Using the Sound Level Meter app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, I recorded the sound again when the printer was running but not printing (left) and when the printer was printing (right). The Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer has a built-in fan that runs continuously while the printer is powered on.
In my opinion, the printer is not loud at all. Yes, I can hear it and I know it’s running, but it’s not terribly annoying or distracting.

My first photo is of the ship model included on the SD card that came with the printer. As you can see, the printer did a great job printing this 3D model. The image you see is the model after printing. I didn’t need to remove any supports or clean it up. You can see a little bit of rope at the door of the boat’s wheelhouse, but it’s very little.

The picture above is a comparison of the Benchy I printed on the “toy” Easythreed K7 Mini 3D Printer I reviewed. Creality print on the left, Easythreed print on the right. Creality prints fairly smoothly.
For my next print test, I wanted an action figure, so I used Craelity’s cloud app (more on that later) and found a model to send from the app to the printer.
Well, I don’t think this should happen… Here’s what I saw when I walked into the office a few hours after I started printing.
Here is the result. Not what I thought.
Next, Tama-kun!I found this model above Ultrathin Universe. Note that you will need to slice any STL models you download to convert them into GCODEs that the printer understands. This is where the slicing software included on the SD card comes in. There are versions for Windows computers and macOS computers.
The Domo-kun model has a little line on the back, which I removed with a Xacto knife. Then I used some Sharpie markers to “draw” him.
I also printed this gnome for my niece. I think it turned out great!
Creative Cloud Application
The Creality Cloud app allows you to find models and send them directly to the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer. The app has some oddly childish features, like giving you points and coins, and letting you get levels like a game.
You don’t even need to use the app at all because you can copy the GCODE file to an SD card, insert the card into the printer, and use the touchscreen to select the model you want to print. But you need to use the Creality Cloud app to take advantage of the remote viewing option.
The built-in camera inside the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer enables you to see in real-time what is happening with the printer from anywhere in the world. This is a really cool feature. You can also use the app to pause or even stop printing if you notice a problem.

The Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D printer was my first real 3D printer and as a beginner I found it very easy to set up and use. I’ve only printed other people’s mockups so far, but I have an idea for my first original design, so I’ll be sure to follow up with comment updates in the future. If you’ve always wanted to try printing 3D models, I think the Creality Sermoon V1 Pro 3D Printer is a printer well worth considering. It’s small, readily available and easy to use.
