review – I did a 1.5 mile dog walk wearing the Deckers X Lab G8 Tactical Boots, but this is only the third time I’ve worn them. To emphasize tactics, I brought my toy Doberman Poquito.

We were on asphalt and a wooded trail with bare roots. I’ll let you know how these boots perform after a few days of wearing them in various conditions.

What is it

Deckers X Lab Tactical Boots are not bull hockey, true military grade boots for armed forces, police, etc. that allow sand-colored boots as part of their uniform. There is no marketing bulk here, soldiers and police can use these boots as part of their official uniforms.

what do I like

I am proud to have two sons-in-laws of US Army officers. I was able to get their opinion on the Deckers X Lab G8 boots. Both have seen it with their own eyes. They agreed that the construction, design and weight of these boots were suitable for military use. For these people, Deckers boots are the equivalent of boots issued by the US Army. They are officially permitted for “uniform use” due to the AR670-1 rating.

I threw boomerangs the first time I wore these boots in a large park as a side hustle. Since I’m not very good, I usually walk in nicely. At the end of that half day, there was zero discomfort in the feet, and the brand new boots had no hot spots or chafing.

The second half of the day I wore boots was at a family gathering in our backyard with five grandkids and their parents. We chase dogs, chase each other, throw Frisbees, bake dinners. Boots break in nicely and still no foot discomfort.

I mentioned my third wear in the intro. You would expect fairly good boot stability on the street, but when we got to the wooded trails, it might confuse some cyclists because of the exposed roots on the trails. I purposely landed on those roots to see if I could feel the protrusions sticking out of the sole. No discomfort whatsoever. Walking on sharp or uneven surfaces feels nothing. If my feet are a little slippery, I can feel the G8 supporting my ankle.

what would i change

I have no complaints with the Deckers X Lab G8 Tactical Boots. I won’t change anything about them. But I have a proposal. Deckers made different boots in black. I think a black version of the G8 would be great. The option may be of greater interest in police, EMS, firefighters, security, and more.

final thoughts

Whether you’re a soldier, mechanic, hunter, law enforcement, park ranger or hiker, you should take the Deckers X Lab G8 Tactical Boot seriously. I find them durable, comfortable, lightweight and hope they wear well and last a long time.
