Cuba’s protests against the communist regime and its decades of oppression have tested Florida’s will. Although Republicans in the state and across the country have always bluntly opposed the Cuban government and understand why people there are bored, the Democrats have tried to cross a line that cannot be crossed.

The problem is that they have not handled it properly. The Democrats could not retract their initial reaction. They can’t take back the absurd comparison of being unable to burn down a Miami Target store. They certainly couldn’t take back the deceit of the Cuban regime over the years and try to normalize it. From Barack Obama to watch baseball to Joe Biden pretending that the only problem is the embargo.
This is not California that we are talking about about voter dynamics. The Latino population in Florida is moving severely to the right, and Democrats are seeing shocking loss of vote share even in areas that are usually dark blue, such as Miami-Dade County. Things are changing. Although the National Democrats tried to appease the ultra-left theorists in New York, they gave up one of the most important battlefield states even before the battle really started.
The Democrats have a communist problem, whether we are talking about Cuba or their knee-jerk to China. Although their most radical members claim that this is not done yet, their experienced members are desperately looking for a middle ground that does not exist. The result can be imagined.
