DDeutsche Börse is making profound changes to its selection index. As the Frankfurt Stock Exchange operator announced on Friday night, 10 companies will also be included in the leading German index Dax. For the first time since its establishment in 1988, it was composed of 40 companies from September 20, instead of the previous 30.
New members of the index include European aircraft and armament company Airbus, Berlin online fashion retailer Zalando, health group Siemens Healthineers, perfume and fragrance maker Symrise from Holzminden, Berlin cooking box mail order company Hello Fresh, and vaccine supply from Germany Sartorius Göttingen, Volkswagen’s main shareholder Porsche Car Holding AG, Essen-based chemical company Brenntag, sporting goods manufacturer Puma, and German-Dutch biotech company Qiagen are slightly more qualified than Hamburg consumer goods group Beiersdorf.
All values are derived from the average index M-Dax, which correspondingly decreased from 60 values to 50 values, and lost 40% of its market value. However, this will not change the index point in Dax or M-Dax. Only the weight of companies in the index changes. Thirty “old” DAX stocks lost about 17% of their index weight in favor of 10 new stocks. There are other changes in M-Dax. New entries include: radio mast operator Vantage Towers (Vodafone has a majority stake), recycling company Befesa, mechanical engineering group Jungheinrich, financial services provider Hypoport and online pet food retailer Zooplus. For this, Hochtief, Morphosys, Encavis, Shop-Apotheke and Nordex must get off the bus.
