Do we have to prepare for Polexit, Janusz Reiter?

NAfter judging recent speeches and decisions, especially court decisions, Poland and the people have gained control European Union Towards the ultimate conflict. The mother of all problems lurks in the background: Is the national conservative government in Warsaw trying to leave the European Union?

In any case, relations between Poland and the European Union are more tense than ever. In Warsaw, the judiciary was rebuilt in accordance with the wishes of the government. The Constitutional Court recently ruled that part of the EU treaty is inconsistent with the Polish Constitution; European Court of Justice (EUGH) is ignored. The controversy has been severely intensified in rhetoric. For its part, the European Court of Justice imposed a record fine on Poland; the European Commission is blocking payments from the Corona Reconstruction Fund. European politicians believe that Poland’s rule of law and the separation of powers are in great danger. So let us ask someone who understands Polish and European politics. Do we really need to prepare for Poland to leave the EU, Janusz Reiter? Can you go to the extreme?

Janusz Reiter was the German ambassador to Germany in the 1990s and was based in Bonn. He did not believe this would happen. But he added: “If you look at the logic of political development, then you can’t rule it out.” Polexit Don’t threaten immediately, but you shouldn’t make serious mistakes either. What is a “serious error”? Reiter believes that this is a fierce conflict that has isolated Poland politically in the European Union, which has led to a fierce internal conflict. This should mean: then the moment of anti-European nationalists will come; the situation of nationalism will become more severe. But this cannot be the goal. The goal must be a turnaround!

Is there a threat of partial de-Westernization?

Janusz Reiter is a staunch defender of Polish membership and cooperation in the European Union. “I don’t know if Poland has any better idea than the EU.” He reviewed his joining a few years ago and the motivation behind it. Of course, European funds can be used. But more importantly, people aspire to be part of the European Community of Values. This is the root cause of the dispute over the rule of law. Then there are basic geopolitical and security policy considerations. Poland cannot survive in the gray area between East and West; Germany also wants to prevent a gray area between it and Russia.
