Review – Sometimes, for software installation, printing seems to have become the way of CD. However, depending on your scope of work or need to print, sign, and mail documents for outdated processes still used in real estate and other industries, having a reliable printer can be anything, from lifeguards to letting your creativity flourish . I had the opportunity to inspect a new Epson Workforce Pro WF-7310 printer before moving, and started testing some critical, time-sensitive documents and some interesting things.
What is it?
The Epson Workforce Pro WF-7310 printer is a very powerful wireless wide-format printer, which is an inkjet printer of the Epson Workforce Pro series. It is a wide format model, capable of printing presentation sizes up to 13 x 19 inches and borderless printing up to 11 x 17 inches.

Design and features
The WF-7310 printer is a very powerful machine, so its rectangular footprint is 20 inches x 16 inches. You can get any color you want in the print, but the printer itself is black. Two paper trays and a paper tray fed directly from the top/rear allow you to prepare the most commonly used paper sizes.
The full-color screen and clear button labels make navigation and settings very easy. Using DURABrite Ultra ink can produce a vivid printing effect according to the paper you choose.
The print tray is motorized and will automatically unfold during printing, which is a great feature. This is a quick video and a demonstration of document printing speed for reference.
set up
Unpacking the Epson Workforce Pro WF-7310 printer is very simple. One nice detail that I somehow managed not to photograph is that the plastic bag inside the box has a handle, which makes it easy to take the device out of the box. Let me talk about the first thing first. Remove all blue shipping tape.
You may want to do this where you can reach all sides of the machine, so you may want to do this on the table instead of in its final location. It seems to be everywhere, when we first used the top/rear feed mechanism, I discovered more about it a week later.
Next, move the printer to the desired location and connect it to the power source. Please note that the power cord connection will increase the depth of the machine by approximately one inch. If needed, you can also connect to Ethernet and/or USB.
Now, turn on the power and follow the prompts on the display. Typical date and time input settings. After that, you will be asked to install the ink cartridges that came with the printer. Opening the lid will automatically move the ink cartridge carrier into place, so you can open the lever and place the ink cartridge in its specific position.
Make sure to remove the yellow label on each ink cartridge before installing.
Once completed, it will initialize and perform a few minutes of operation, and then ask you to set the paper size.
The adjustment in the paper tray is done with the trigger, and then slide to the corresponding size.
Next, it will ask to configure your connection, and then the setup is complete.
Performance
There is no doubt that the Epson Workforce Pro WF-7310 printer is the simplest printer setup I can recall. Everything went well the first time I tried it, and I started running.
The only thing I didn’t plan was the size of the machine. It’s not big, but it’s big enough to fit in the IKEA cabinet where our previous printer was. In the video in the “Design and Features” section, you will see that it prides itself on being several inches above the cabinet. It is about 2 inches deeper than our cabinet, and then a bit deeper when adding power cords.
I did get this printer before moving to the new house, so I planned ahead and kept the packaging. I took out the ink before packing and put the ink cartridge in a small zipper lock. There is no problem reinstalling the same ink cartridges, just wipe them clean before inserting, and then run the calibration procedure from the maintenance menu. When resetting, I moved the printer to the top of the same cabinet and used the 90-degree power cord left over from the old TV, which worked well.
A few keys, a big note about size. If you plan to print on 11 x 17″ or 13 x 19″ paper, the space occupied will increase.
By squeezing the trigger inside and extending the tray, the lower tray can grow to accommodate 11 x 17 inches of paper. The result is an increase of 6 inches in the front and a total depth of 22 inches. Not the end of the world, but it will definitely cause problems, depending on your office configuration.
To print 13 x 19 inches, you need to use the top/rear loading function. When it is unfolded, it adds up to 8 inches of back depth and slightly higher than 5 inches in height.
The added depth is enough in my cabinet, the printer moves more than half of the balance point and will fall off. I might end up installing a corner platform or something on top of the cabinet to accommodate it. But yes, if you consider loading 11 x 17 inches in the lower pallet and opening the top/rear with 13 x 19 inches loaded, the depth will increase to a huge footprint of 30 inches.
I’m a Mac user, so I can’t say printing from a PC, but the printing is surprisingly smooth. The first print has a few streaks. Using the print head cleaning and alignment settings again, I was able to print perfectly quickly.
I mentioned it quickly above, but the automatic print tray is really cool. When you send a print, the receiving tray will automatically extend and prevent the print from falling to the floor. You need to push it in manually when you collect the prints, but hey, this is much simpler (and less costly) than some sensors trying to detect if you have picked up the prints and cross-checking with the queue to make sure there is no other one ) Take it back before one comes. For printers that are not super expensive, this feels like a big budget feature.
As long as your WiFi network is stable, the printing speed of text documents will be very fast. The printing speed of images and artwork will depend on your file size and quality settings. In general, the graphics printing speed I have seen is faster than any machine I have used before. Some slogan-type 13 x 19-inch posters are printed in seconds instead of minutes. Other photos will take longer, but the quality is good. These are some rad sketches my wife made for #inktober, and the printed results are very beautiful.
When you look at the total cost of owning a printer, the cost of ink replacement is always a factor. Epson 812 DURABrite Ultra ink packaging that contains black, cyan, magenta, and yellow ink cartridges is priced at $38.95 on Amazon, so keep that in mind. I don’t have a deep understanding of ink consumption, but I don’t think I use much. It all depends on what you print, if you always use it up there first, then there is room for the oversized black ink cartridge.

Final thoughts
For creative types, the Epson Workforce Pro WF-7310 printer wins in terms of print quality. Even if the file size is large, the colors are good, and the speed is good. The variable footprint size may affect the location of your office, so keep this in mind and you will be very satisfied with this unit. Anyone looking for a pure document printer or multifunction machine should look elsewhere, because these are not the design goals of the WF-7310.
