Pfizer-BioNTech is the first COVID-19 vaccine authorized by the EUA on December 11, 2020 in the United States. Under the emergency use authorization, the vaccine can still be used for individuals between 12 and 15 years of age and used to inject a third booster dose for people with weakened immune functions.As of Monday, it is the first COVID-19 vaccine to be fully approved by the US health authorities
“As we continue to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the FDA’s approval of this vaccine is a milestone. The full approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine may open the door for many public and private organizations to introduce vaccine requirements. Health officials also hope that full approval will help persuade some people who are hesitant to get the vaccine.
“This may make them inclined to get vaccinated,” Murthy added.
