With the California recall election approaching, Larry Elder has become the leading Republican candidate. His polls among conservative and Republican voters are good, but the recent mistakes of the conservative talk show host may have caused the recall to lose some much-needed support.
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has served on the Senate seat for nearly three decades. The 88-year-old Feinstein has not appeared in public for several weeks, and rumors about her mental state and even death have been circulating. Although the long-term senator has not been conspicuous recently, she did say earlier this year that she intends to complete another full term in 2025.
Regardless of her intentions, the reality is that Feinstein is aging and is likely to be in poor physical and/or mental health (we can only guess that this fact says it all). In states currently on the fringe of official autocracy, the open Senate seats between election cycles are usually appointed by the current governor. Even recently, Gavin Newsom (Gavin Newsom) appointed Alex Padilla (Alex Padilla) to succeed Kamala Harris (Kamala Harris) to accept the executive branch. It stands to reason that no matter what happens to Newsom’s removal election, the governor of California is likely to have an open Senate seat to deal with at some point.
So it’s not surprising that Elder was asked what would happen to Feinstein’s vacant seat (if in the final analysis). After all, he is the leading candidate. However, Elder’s answer was disappointing for several reasons.
Elder recently told Markleven that he would definitely appoint a Republican to fill Feinstein’s seat.
The public response was immediate. There are rumors that internal polls on the “recall” issue have been hit hard. The drowsy Democratic voters who had planned to absent from the election were suddenly awakened. It’s one thing to remember a truly terrible governor and risk turning that pure blue bass into red.Risking abandon is another matter two An important political seat in an election. This is a serious miscalculation of Elder, and he seems to be aware of it immediately, especially after the comments spread, and popular media reports like this Hill with Daily mailWhen pressed, Elder seemed to avoid further elaborating the question. But the damage may have been done, and Newsom now has a very persuasive talking point when trying to inspire indifferent Democratic voters.
Larry Elder recently told radio host Mark Levin that he “definitely” would replace Senator Dianne Feinstein with a Republican if given the opportunity.

However, the statement was not the only mistake Elder made. The truly conservative response should be to directly condemn the progressive swamp culture that has saturated Sacramento. People want to play the corruption game that the California Democrats have implemented, but this is a short-term solution to a long-term problem, which is to re-balance the distribution of political power in the Blue State by rebuilding the republican principles.
The really conservative answer to the appointment question is this:
California’s Senate seat does not belong to the governor. It doesn’t even belong to Diana Feinstein. Senate seats in California belong to the people and cannot be appointed. This is the power of California voters.
Yes, voters are likely to choose another Democrat, but that is the real rascal of freedom… People are free to make bad choices. Republican candidates, their parties, and their supporters have a responsibility to convince voters that they are worthy of the elected seat. This is an uphill battle, but if we are true supporters of freedom, we must be willing to apply this freedom equally, even if it may not be good for our position. We have an obligation to persuade, not wave, what to give voters US Want instead of something them think.
In fact, one Republican candidate has been touting the necessity of putting California’s national representation in the hands of the people.Member of Parliament Kevin Keley (R-Rocklin) Not only is he the only candidate with extensive (and current) experience in the Capitol, he also happens to be Gavin Newsom’s own regional representative (although Newsom seems unlikely to be that Enthusiastic Republican voters in predominantly red areas).
This is very important to the understanding of California voters.although @KevinKileyCA Being a Republican, he believes that voters should always be the ones who make decisions-he doesn’t just want to express partisan views. #RecallGavinNewsom https://t.co/rECTm5zCtF

Keeley knew it from the beginning. The seat of the people is the seat of the people.
Every candidate who claims to adhere to a conservative worldview needs to take the same position. This is not only an important message when receiving the support of many Democratic voters. They are keen to recall the current governor, but they are not too keen to occupy a seat in the Senate.
Governor Newsom has enjoyed single-man rule in this state for too long. No matter which party it is, we do not need to replace an excessive bureaucrat with another.
