Dr. Jessica Taylor, who claims to be the “Best Selling RadFem Author” and “Chartered Psychologist”, posted a tweet complaining about the movie with the headline “King Richard,” It tells the story of how Richard Williams portrayed his daughter to become an outstanding athlete. She suggested that paying attention to Williams’ father is sexist:

I know this annoys people, but I really didn’t expect a movie about the two most powerful, successful and amazing black female athletes to be named after a man, or centered on a man.
I would like that this movie is about them, not a man. It really is.
There was strong opposition from black Twitter, and many well-known users condemned her for belittling the role of black fathers in raising their daughters. Activist Bree Newsome highlighted how these feminists view black women:

Bernice King, the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., pointed out that Venus and Serena were the producers of this film:

Preston Mitchum, director of advocacy and government affairs for the Trevor Project, also noticed that the Williams sisters were involved in the film and criticized Taylor for speaking to black people:

The film was released in cinemas and HBO Max on Friday, “Depicts how [Richard Williams] Developed a strategy to help his two youngest children at the time thrive in a sport where few black women were successful before,” NBC News.
This movie focuses on Venus Williams, because it looks at the early stages of the growth of Richard Williams’ daughter, who is the eldest sister.
Taylor’s Condescending The attitude towards this film shows how progressive leftists generally view blacks—especially black fathers. It’s as if they want it to look as if we don’t exist or have no value.In addition, this also reflects Paternalistic thinking They used it when talking about black people. These people do believe that they know better than blacks what is best for us.
Venus and Serena are black women, and they made a movie to commemorate their black father. This fact has nothing to do with sexism. This has to do with reality: without their black father, they might not have achieved the success they have achieved, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with admitting this. Unfortunately, the left seems to be unable to understand this concept.
