review – One of the most common things I hear lately is “sitting is killing us”. Yes, I’m friends with some eccentric people, and no, I don’t think my couch is from another planet waiting to eat me. But at a time when “working from home” became a necessity, I noticed how much of my office work was static. Even during those lunch hour walks around the building, most of the time was sitting, so when the “shutdown” happened at the end of the day, I noticed a noticeable knee pop and needed a back stretch so I could walk to my car Next to… sit down my entire commute home. They might be doing something. When FlexiSpot introduced their Standing Desk Pro Plus model, I jumped at the chance to test drive it.

what is it?

As advertised, the FlexiSpot Pro Plus (E7) Standing Desk is a desk; but don’t let the looks fool you, true believers. This is actually very illegal. You ask its favorite rule to break? gravity.

FlexiSpot Standing Desks allow users to adjust the height of the desk surface. The desk uses a bottom-mounted control panel for easy access no matter which side you choose; FREE! I’m not sure if this is a newer feature, but the side of the control panel includes a USB port, giving you a very useful place to charge your device within reach.

What’s in the box?

– 1 desktop
– 2 legs
– 1 motor
– 1 touch panel

Design and Features

– Touch boost function
– Lock function of the control panel
– 4 preset levels
– Safe stop
– 300 lbs.weight restriction
– Selection of color

Setup and use

Assembly is always the best part. My partner sees it as big Lego bricks. While the FlexiSpot Pro Plus (E7) Standing Desk can be assembled by one person, two people do make things easier (read: a lot). Assembling the table is relatively simple compared to some of the Swedish furniture that adorn our residence. It comes in two separate boxes, nicely packaged and delivered a few days apart. The packaging, as the kids now say, are mints. Every corner is covered with foam or some kind of plastic protection with special moulded foam inserts, so nothing is damaged. I have to say, I was concerned because the FlexiSpot’s box says “If there are any damaged parts…” and where to contact, but luckily that wasn’t a problem at all. Once this table is fully assembled, it’s a moving beast, so it’s a good idea to tag a partner to help in order to not want any chiropractic bills or floor refinishing.

Once in place and empowered, I had to do the only thing a marginally immature adult should do, raise and lower the table at the touch of a button: I made it as high and low as possible (before you ask, yes, I’m the kid who presses every button on the elevator). I wanted to see if this shenanigans negatively affected the mechanics. Do the gears groan? Will it give me an error? Will it slow down over time? Essentially, I tried my best to emphasize it. To my surprise, it never faltered. It never slowed down, the touchpad never shorted, the memory height never dropped or it was difficult to change gears.

So now, everyday use. I have a pretty mixed schedule so most of my work is at home. Because I locked myself in my spare bedroom… uh, I mean, my new office works 8 hours a day – this desk has to be my desk, my lounge, my dresser; Essence , it must be flexible. The good news – the FlexiSpot does everything from showing it to fixing my makeup. One Saturday morning it was used as a dresser for my cocker spaniel who fought with some double bubbles while we were walking.

I did stumble upon collision warnings. But it’s worth mentioning that you won’t blow up the motor when she gets stuck, as the Flexispot will beep at you with all the power of the microwave (enough to alert you without piercing the ear drum). In my case, a package of rolled up rugs stored in my office actually fell off slowly, leaning against the desk, and then got stuck between the wall and the desk without me noticing. When I moved the table to my stored standing height, I heard those noises and had to investigate.

what do I like

  • Comfortable at all heights
  • Sensitive trackpad
  • crash failsafe
  • USB port on the side of the control board
  • easy to assemble
  • Smooth and quiet operation
  • Option to mount the control board on either side (drill holes on both sides)
  • Base mounts to any size top – if you feel the need to upgrade or downsize
  • Very sturdy – don’t worry about the coffee shaking if the table gets bumped, it’s heavy
  • well package

what would i change

  • Power cord management on the bottom could be better, but acceptable. (FlexiSpot does offer an additional wire organization plug-in, but does not offer a review with the desk.)

final thoughts

If you have decided to use standing desk Lifestyle, the FlexiSpot Pro Plus (E7) Standing Desk is the product you’ve been looking for. It’s easy to assemble, very sturdy, untechnical, and simple to operate. This is a heavy piece of furniture, so ask a friend to help you move it safely and watch your toes. For those detail-oriented readers, a better cable management system under the desk is probably the biggest issue here, a situation that’s easily fixed with a few zips. FlexiSpot also offers tabletops in a variety of lengths to fit any office space, if you need something bigger or smaller, you just need to grab the tabletop as the leg pieces are the same, even for larger surfaces. It also means those of us who are handy with power tools (insert home improvement theme here) might be able to make our own custom tabletop surfaces. While this is possible, the surface is made of your choice of laminate, bamboo, solid wood or glass. There are also non-traditional surface shapes available, such as multi-level tables for pianos or drawing tables. This desk is perfect for anyone in the market for an adjustable desk, or even a regular desk. You need a solid surface that you can rely on to withstand the weight of expensive modern hardware. Even on the most stressful days of work, the FlexiSpot Pro Plus (E7) standing desk is a reliable teammate.
