Foodpanda expands its ‘fast business’ concept in Laos


Pandamart opens four warehouses in Vientiane

Pandamart, the online grocery shopping brand of German food delivery company Foodpanda, is expanding in Laos what it calls “dark stores,” small warehouses that can only order groceries online from customers.

The company now operates four warehouses in Vientiane and says it is able to deliver goods to any customer in the capital in 25-30 minutes or less. It calls the concept “quick commerce” or “q-commerce” in an era of accelerated competition among food delivery companies.

Foodpanda says it has invested heavily to create such a fast delivery service that will be the next generation of e-commerce – as its name suggests, it’s all about fast delivery, wait times compared to traditional e-commerce Five days for 3 domestic orders.

“The concept of q-commerce has revolutionized the way we order online today – it’s the convenience and speed of delivering small quantities of items to customers anytime, anywhere,” Foodpanda said.

In mid-February, Foodpanda opened its Pandamart service in four strategic locations in Vientiane. Fast delivery mainly relies on managing a large number of independent delivery drivers and preparing and packing goods for customers in warehouses within a short period of time.

Further expansion of Laos on the radar

The company said it uses state-of-the-art technology and sophisticated systems to calculate locations, distances and manage its own inventory of online convenience stores, with a systematic layout and strategic location of multiple warehouses in cities. A wide range of products includes local and imported goods, beverages, soft drinks, condiments, personal items, household items, ready meals and frozen meals.

In 2022, the company plans to expand Pandamart to key provinces such as Luang Prabang, Savannakhet and Champasak, which is expected to create much-needed jobs for locals.

Foodpanda is currently the most popular food delivery service in Laos, competing mainly with Grab Food, Uber Eats and Easy Delivery, but also with smaller domestic players such as Chomp-A Delivery, Meal Temple or MyDelivery.
