Review – Summer is here, and now we finally moved into our new home, I spend more time outside trying to shape my yard. The garden hose and I have a love-hate relationship. I like a long garden hose that doesn’t get knotted and can reach all the places in my yard. I hate how heavy a really good hose can do all these things. The GardenJoy expandable garden hose is expected to get rid of the weight and kinks of ordinary hoses. Let’s see if this is my dream come true.
What is it?
GardenJoy expandable garden hose is a garden hose, once it reaches full water pressure, it will expand to three times its original length. It is made of double-layer latex, making it very flexible and unlikely to kink.

After pulling the hose out of the bag, I also found another rubber gasket, and I ended up using it on the end connected to the faucet.

Design and features
The hose I received has a valve at the end that allows you to open and close the water. This is very convenient if you don’t want to place accessories such as a sprayer at the end, but just want to place a free-flowing nozzle. You first close the valve and turn on the water. Once the water pressure has allowed the hose to expand to its maximum extent, you can open the valve and let your sprinklers run. Both ends of the hose have plastic caps extending downward to protect the position where the end is connected to the hose.
The picture below is a photo of the inside of the connector connected to your faucet. Please note that there is already a black rubber gasket inside it. I did add an extra white rubber gasket because it was leaking when I connected the hose for the first time. Once the white gasket was added, the leak stopped. The thread is very clean and I can easily add it to my faucet. I also want to point out that the thread is on the freely rotating lid, so when I turn the thread to the faucet, the hose itself does not try to twist.
The figure below shows the valve end of the hose. It shows that the valve is closed. It runs very smoothly and can be completely sealed.
This is a close-up of the hose itself. It is made of polyester and is very flexible. I am a little worried that if the hose itself gets wet (and will) it will mold over time because I continue to store it in the bag. It will be a great pain to dry it, because you know what happens before you store it.
Performance
In view of the reasons I mentioned above about storing polyester hoses that may be wet, I chose to store mine in a bucket to get more airflow. In addition, the bucket can catch any excess water. The hose and barrel are very light. I can’t weigh it, but I can swing the bucket easily. An ordinary 100-foot hose will never fit into a bucket at first.
Another reason I put it in the bucket is that the manufacturer recommends not to put the hose in full sunlight when not in use. It took me less than 5 minutes to unhook the hose from the faucet and drain it when I put it in the bucket. I like this better than hanging some hoses on the wall in front of my house.

I make sure the valve is closed and open the hose. It’s cool to see the hose self-expanding. The image below shows the hose extending to its full 100 feet.
In general, I have no problem using hoses. The weight is very light, it will never wrap around me, and it is very easy to move. One problem I did encounter was that the hose was hooked by a stick protruding from my flower bed. As you can see below, the polyester is hooked. This means that when using this hose, you need to be careful not to pass the hose through anything that might get entangled in it.

- If the website says it should be there, please include the hose hanger.
Final thoughts
Overall, I am very impressed with this hose. I used this type of hose when they first appeared a few years ago. I found that they were made cheaply with broken connectors, and when I used a pressure washer to maintain water pressure for a long time, I exploded. Even before the water pressure hits it, the hose has the diameter of a normal hose. I think that in the long run, this will make it more durable and unlikely to explode at any given point of the hose. I will definitely update this review after I have the opportunity to use it with a pressure washer.
