Similar to my recent Fenix 7 post, Garmin was a little too eager to post their product page.
The new Garmin Epix Gen 2 has been released on the website, but is currently unavailable for purchase.
Price and Availability
Considering the high price point of some Fenix 7 models, the Garmin Epix 2 doesn’t feel that expensive.
Base model with steel chassis and rubber bands for just £799.99
Then the two titanium models cost £899.99 and I think the white model looks pretty good.
Finally, Black Titanium with Maroon Leather Strap for £999.99

Garmin Epix 2 Features
We already know everything, it’s basically a Fenix 7 with an AMOLED display. I’ve highlighted some key differences.
exhibit
Official specs state that the AMOLED display is always 1.3 inches (33.02 mm) 454 x 454 pixels.
The display is a touchscreen, and you also have some buttons that are more welcome when exercising.
Battery
One of the biggest concerns for the Fenix with its AMOLED display is poor battery life. Garmin somehow managed to make it a great battery. From my book, six days is always good.
- Smartwatch: Up to 16 days (6 days always-on)
- Power saving mode: up to 21 days
- GPS only: up to 42 hours (30 hours always on)
- All satellite systems: up to 32 hours (24 hours always on)
- All satellite systems + multi-band: up to 20 hours (15 hours always on)
- All satellite systems + music: up to 10 hours (9 hours always on)
- Maximum battery GPS: up to 75 hours
- Expedition GPS: Up to 14 days
One difference with the Fenix is that there is no solar charging.
This could be a killer feature for the Epix, which has a higher-resolution display
Follow a route or route with the help of turn-by-turn directions that let you know in advance when your next turn will be.
Smart notifications
Receive emails, text messages and reminders directly on your watch when paired with a compatible smartphone.
OK, so the Fenix 6 already has this feature, but it will look richer thanks to the display.
GPS multiband frequencies are not supported
Some Fenix models get new GPS multiband frequency support, but this doesn’t seem to be included in Epix. You probably won’t miss it anyway
Multi-Continent TopoActive Map
Some Fenix models have region-locked maps, but Epix has TopoActive maps around the world.
