review – Since I purchased my new home, I’ve been trying to turn the scary landscape it presents into something attractive and dizzying. A big part of my design has been lighting as we are coming out of a typical NYC winter and most of it needs to be redone. The Govee RGBIC Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Outdoor Floor Light excites me. Let’s see if they live up to my expectations.
What is it?
The Govee RGBIC Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Outdoor Floor Light is a colorful floor light with an IP67 waterproof rating to keep it in the elements all year round. They feature music sync, hands-free voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant, and remote control via the Govee Home app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Design and Performance
These lights are small, made of plastic and tied together like regular light strings. Installation is very simple. Just grab the ground stake and push the light into the soil in your desired formation.
There is a controller between the AC adapter and the light. The power button is built into a flat surface of the controller.
The table below shows the IP ratings for lamps, controllers and AC adapters.
My next step is to insert the lights into the ground around my front stairs and one of the plant beds.
Lighting is set through the app. It uses bluetooth and wifi and can be controlled from anywhere in the world. Here are some screenshots:
App setup is quick and easy, and once that’s done, you’re ready to go. The first thing I did was set the lights to a solid color that would be my summer color.
Next, I went ahead and experimented with a few options, tweaks, and lighting scenes.

Overall, this is a great string light with tons of adjustability, and it even includes a DIY feature so you can create your own custom scenes. It’s controllable via the Alexa I have and works great with this and my other Govee lights. The wifi feature allows me to turn on the lights at night when I’m out and about, and the neighbors are constantly admiring them. I’m really concerned that the AC adapter is IPX0 rated since these are outdoor lights and I might have a hard time keeping the adapter dry over time. I also think the control box should have a higher IPX rating. I’ve been lucky enough to hide the AC adapter well under the window, I hope that’s enough protection.

final thoughts
I have a few different lights from Govee and they have always been fine. These lights are no exception. They look great and offer a lot of flexibility for color schemes. I give Govee another good job.
