FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO, Representative Director: Teiichi Goto) is pleased to announce the launch of the mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM X-H2S” (X-H2S) in July 2022.
The camera joins the lineup of X-series mirrorless digital cameras known for their outstanding still and video image quality, and features Fuji’s proprietary color reproduction technology.
The X-H2S is the new flagship model with the highest performance in the history of the X series. This has been achieved by using the new stacked layer back-illuminated 26.16MP” X-TransTM value CMOS 5 High Speed”*2 Sensor reads signals 4 times faster than previous models*1High-speed “X-Processor 5” doubles the processing speed of previous models*3.
Equipped with an advanced AF system, the X-H2S can shoot up to 40 frames per second, and offers newly developed subject recognition AF technology that can even shoot 6.2K/30P and 4K/120P video.
Other features include five-axis in-body image stabilization, which offers up to 7.0 stops of advantage*4High-strength magnesium alloy body, hardware combines improved operability over previous models, and a wide range of interface options, including a new slot for CFexpressTM value Type B card*5 and an optional file transmitter (sold separately).
The new cameras meet the diverse needs of professional photographers and videographers for still and video photography, including sports photography, bird photography and one-person location work.
About new equipment
X-Trans™ CMOS 5 High Speed: This 26.16MP image sensor inherits the back-illuminated style of the previous model and adopts a stacked structure, making it the first stacked APS-C that quadruples the read signal speed compared to the current model sensor.
It features significantly improved performance, including up to 40fps non-stop burst mode*6 The autofocus rate during continuous shooting is significantly improved. As for video performance, the sensor can record 4K/60P video without cropping, significantly reducing rolling shutter effects.
X-Processor 5:The new processor is twice as fast as the current model. It improves image resolution at low ISO sensitivities and reduces noise at high ISO sensitivities in still images, while significantly improving AF accuracy and speed.
Object detection AF is achieved using an AI processor to track target objects with higher accuracy. On the video side, the processor is capable of shooting 4:2:2 10bit video at 6.2K/30P and 4K/120P, and supports multiple codecs including Apple ProRes 422 HQ*7. It also has lower power consumption, extending the maximum video recording time, and supports CFexpressTM value Type B memory card.

The X-H2S takes full advantage of the capabilities of the fifth-generation device and achieves a substantial performance boost.
- The continuous shooting capability has been greatly improved: the camera can perform AF/AE tracking during continuous shooting without blackout, up to 40 fps, and when the high-speed continuous shooting mode is set to 30 fps, it can continuously shoot more than 1000 shots (JPEG) or every 20 frames per second (RAW). *8
- Significantly improved AF performance: Increased AF calculations per second, improved AF accuracy, subject recognition AF capabilities, and improved predictive algorithms to significantly improve area AF and the ability to track moving subjects in low-contrast environments.
- Improved video performance: The camera internally supports recording 4:2:2 10bit video at 6.2K/30P and 4K/120P. The sensor readout speed during video recording has been increased to 1/180th of a second, suppressing the rolling shutter effect. It supports three Apple ProRes codecs; ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422 and ProRes 422 LT. When recording ProRes, the X-H2S also supports proxy recording such as ProRes 422 Proxy. Another new feature is the F-Log2 function, which extends the dynamic range to 14+ stops for smoother tonal expression.
