Review – After a day of stress, do you need a new way to relax? You can binge watch popular new shows on Netflix, listen to music, or use HoMedics Drift, which can create a beautiful and almost magical sculpture, and you can watch metal balls rolling silently in the sand. I voted for the latter. Let’s see.

What is it?

HoMedics Drift is a dynamic sand table that can create an automated Zen garden for stress relief, calmness, meditation, and even home decoration.

What’s in the box?

  • Homedics drift
  • Power cord and AC adapter
  • sand
  • Ball bearing
  • rake

Design and features

HoMedics Drift is basically a cream or black plastic bowl with a glass lid on the top. It is available in two sizes and two colors. There is a 16-inch version, which was sent to me for review, and a larger 21-inch version. It’s hard to imagine a bigger one, because the 16-inch version is so big.

The base of Drift has a power port, a power button and an indicator button.

The glass top is removable, so you can access the sand platform.

The platform on which the sand is placed is lined with white knitted fabric.

To set up HoMedics Drift, you just need to pour a bag of very fine white sand on the platform.

At first I felt that there was not enough sand…

But you can use the included plastic rake to spread the sand as evenly as possible on the platform.

All that remains to be done is to place the ball bearings on the platform…

Then put the glass cover back in place, connect the power cord and turn on Drift.

Last but not least, you must install the HoMedics Drift app on your phone.

The application

After installation, the app will connect to Drift, and then you can choose from a large number of modes.

Choosing a pattern will immediately start the ball bearing rolling on the sand to create the pattern. You can adjust the speed, you can also adjust the brightness, color, etc. of the light.

You can even choose a special playlist to download more patterns.

Get ready, set, zen!

As the ball bearing moves in the sand, it is very easy and interesting to watch the pattern evolve.

The pattern is beautiful and complex.

After the pattern is completed, the ball bearing will stop moving.

The combination of patterns and light forms some cool “arts”.

Watching HoMedics Drift draw patterns on the beach is relaxing, but it does make some noise. I think it would be great if there is a built-in speaker that can be used for your own music or built-in Zen/relax tones. This will also increase the value of the device.

Watch the video below to understand and understand how it works.

Do you see it in action?

what do I like

  • Decompression sand painting table
  • Ability to select patterns and download new patterns
  • Cool lighting effects

What will i change

  • It’s expensive
  • Add built-in bluetooth speaker

Final thoughts

HoMedics Drift is a unique device that can help you relax by observing the ball bearings drawing patterns on the sand. This device is cool, but also expensive. If you have enough budget, I think HoMedics Drift can be a great dynamic decoration for your home, doctor’s office, spa, library, etc.
