How to do preppy style this fall

While spring/summer fashion has had a lot of preppy influences, it hasn’t gone away in the fall. The hallmark of preppy style is that it is very open to interpretation. There are Ivy League preppy, southern preppy, east coast preppy, Gossip Girl preppy…the list goes on. As someone who grew up in New England, my personal style is definitely influenced by preppy, and I think there are a lot of great preppy styles that are also considered classics. Meanwhile, my years in Catholic school kind of ruined khakis, polo shirts, and plaid skirts for me.

This is the preppy thing, and you probably already have some of these pieces in your closet. Cable-knit sweaters, button-down shirts and navy blazers are just some of the preppy chic. If you’re wondering how to style preppy this fall or need some inspiration, today’s post is for you!

How to do preppy style this fall

What is preppy style? It depends on the situation. Do you think Ralph Lauren or Lily Pulitzer? Maybe Brooks Brothers or LL Bean. It’s explainable, so I’ll share some of my favorites and what I’m looking forward to wearing this fall. Anything stylish, you can make it your own and wear what you feel good about!

I mentioned the sweater vest Several times as they are one of my favorite fall trends. They’re actually great for the Vermont weather, too. A navy blazer is a preppy staple, but it’s also so classic. Whether it’s denim or a slip dress, any outfit can be instantly paired with a navy blazer.
