Climate activist Greta Tunberg criticized British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday for using jets during the COP26 summit in Glasgow and called the actions of world leaders “hypocritical.”
Since the conclusion of the Glasgow Summit last weekend, Thunberg has held her first climate school strike in Stockholm, which the 18-year-old Swede called a “failure.”
“Of course, the climate crisis is not caused by private jets, but it is a bit hypocritical… World leaders (they) live close, such as Boris Johnson, and fly on private jets while trying to solve the climate problem. Arrived in the Glasgow crisis,” Tunberg said.
She added:
This will not send the correct information.
The 18-year-old took a train from Stockholm to a conference aimed at keeping the global temperature rise below 1.5°C.
Johnson boarded a chartered Airbus plane to get in and out of the meeting.

He flew from Rome to the conference to attend the G20 conference. Critics pointed out that he also flew back to London instead of taking the four and a half hour train from Glasgow.

Johnson later returned to the meeting by train.
At the end of last week’s summit, nearly 200 countries signed a global agreement after two weeks of painful negotiations to try to prevent runaway global warming, but it did not reach the level scientists said was needed to contain the dangerous rise.
Among other things, India and China weakened the final summit decision in the final series, insisting on changing the wording from “phasing out” coal to “gradual reduction.”
Thunberg had previously regarded the climate conference agreement as “nonsense, nonsense, nonsense.”
she says:
I think it’s weird for some people to set it as a victory, because what standard does this set for future COPs? If we don’t admit that it is actually a failure, how can we learn from this COP.
She added: “They don’t return with higher ambitions every five years, but they do it every year…Unless this really brings any results, it doesn’t make much sense.”
