New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio defended the people who attacked Rittenhouse, calling them “victims”:

Since this story has attracted national attention, the left has been promoting the narrative of white supremacy. Left-leaning politicians and media activists insist that Rittenhouse is a vicious white supremacist who was looking for blood in Kenosha that day.
However, none of these people found a trace of evidence that the young man had racist views — no doubt, they searched his social media, desperately looking for any posts that might be interpreted as paranoia. Unfortunately, they will continue to use this story to advance their “everyone is racist” statement. The question is: will the United States buy it?
