In alliance negotiations, “completely precedes hasty”

DCo-Chairman Greens Annalena Balbok Before the Traffic Light Alliance negotiations scheduled to end next week, no deadline pressure was seen. Baerbock said at the Brandenburg Green Party Conference of States Parties in Potsdam on Saturday that the motto “be thorough before hurrying” is applicable. She said that the negotiations with the Social Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party were “a huge challenge.” Now people say “every minute, day and night”. “We will see how many more days are needed.”

Baerbock said that in certain disciplines, the three parties “come from completely different worlds.” Sometimes it will jerk “violently” to make the Green Party feel that they are solely responsible for climate protection. But there are also areas where “this color constellation can create real divergence.”

In her speech, Balbok called for achieving climate neutrality as a guideline in every political field, “not only for the environmental sector, but also for agriculture, transportation, especially commerce and industry.”

Social Democratic Party, The Green Party and the Liberal Democratic Party announced on Tuesday that they hope to submit a draft alliance agreement next week. No exact date was given. On Monday, the 21-member main negotiating team, including the respective party chairman and SPD candidate for prime minister Olaf Schultz, will join again.
