All of Italy is fighting forest fires. Authorities said there were more than 200 fires that stretched from the south of the country to the capital, Rome. Sicily and Sardinia were also partially on fire.

The Civil Defense Department announced on Thursday night that these areas have requested 34 times for assistance from firefighting aircraft. The inquiries came from Calabria in southern Italy, Latium, where Rome is the capital, and Sicily and Sardinia. The authorities were unable to send the plane to three fires. There, the fire brigade had to extinguish the flames on the ground. The agency stated that most fires are caused by careless or malicious behavior.
