Representative Jackie Speier (D-CA) is an interesting set of contradictions. As a survivor of the Jonestown massacre in 1978, she established her political career, where she was shot five times before being abandoned. This ordeal prompted her not only to become a cult monitor, but also to run for political office.
Spear is Being sexually harassed as a congressional assistant, Which prompted her to lead #MeToo to solve the problem of sexual harassment in the Capitol and the military. Spear said that she was traumatized again on January 6, which made her a full-scale activist determined to expose white supremacy and extremism in the military.
This guardian In an in-depth interview with Speier, she compared Jim Jones with Donald J. Trump:
Jim Jones is the leader of a religious cult and Donald Trump is the leader of a political cult,” Spear told the Guardian. “As a victim of violence and cult leaders, I am very sensitive to behavior with this flavor. We must be wary of anyone who can control people so that they lose the ability to think independently. “
Speier also expressed this view in December 2020, when she and Daily Beast To promote her memoir, Fearless: Survive in Jonestown, summon courage, fight back:
Spear said Trump’s ability to raise more than $200 million after losing the election due to dubious legal fees should be a wake-up call. “He created a cult of personality-although it’s hard for me to say, he exudes charm, and people want to follow him,” she said. “When you see proud boys hacking people and inciting violence on the street, it’s a bit chilling. This is a political cult. The other is religious worship.”
I will not underestimate the terrible torture that Spear experienced, or the way it shaped Spear’s views. However, this does not mean that it has shaped her in a positive way, or even that she has received enough treatment that she can become an agent to help or heal others. From the current defeat of the so-called white supremacy and extremism in the military, to her legislative advocacy and the Congress vote for her seven terms, it seems quite the opposite. In my opinion, Spear is using her unresolved pain to chase monsters that fit the political narrative, and then enact legislation and green light measures, which will damage our army and cause division, rather than the unity of our country.
If there are any signs of this 2018 Jonestown 40th anniversary work, Spear is still a tortured woman.
from ABC7 News In San Francisco:
The massacre in Guyana affected Spear’s life in many ways. There are two bullets and shrapnel in her body. She suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.
Jennings: “During those dark days, have you ever had a moment of post-traumatic stress disorder?”
Spear: “I will do this whenever there is a 21-gun salute, a fireworks display, or a particularly loud sound, or a car backfire.Spear said that Jonestown taught her that we must be skeptical of secretly operating groups while advocating the First Amendment right to religious freedom. If they commit a crime, they need to report it.
“I am a Roman Catholic, and I look at the Catholic Church and how they allow these pedophile priests to be reassigned to another diocese when they are obliged to enforce the law but not to enforce the law,” she said.
Spear became fearless after experiencing a near death experience. She said: “If it didn’t happen in Jonestown, I didn’t know I would run for office.”
Maybe she shouldn’t have, because from where I was sitting, Spear looked as extreme as the people she claimed wanted to stop.
Since January 6, Speer has used her political power as a member of the Armed Forces and Intelligence Committee of the House of Representatives to urge urgent reforms to strengthen protection against white supremacy and extremist violence. Last month, she wrote to Joe Biden and his newly appointed Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, calling for a “new sense of urgency” after the “shocking incident at the Capitol.”
Speer told the President and the Secretary of Defense in the letter that she was “increasingly shocked” by the links between violent extremist groups and military personnel. She warned them that current efforts to contain the problem are “not enough to deal with the threat of these extremist movements.”
My rule that violent extremism is a military crime was blocked by Trump. The Department of Defense and the Federal Government will not screen service personnel and other sensitive roles for white supremacist and violent extremist relationships on social media. This must be changed immediately. We cannot take another risk on January 6. pic.twitter.com/7vrMxI7QNC

Once again, let’s go back to view. BLM and Antifa have been raging in our country’s major cities throughout the summer of 2020. Chaos, destruction, and actors are obvious to anyone with eyesight. But does Spear have a sense of urgency about white supremacy and the military? If she really cares about extremist and charismatic cult leaders, shouldn’t those groups and those who lead them be censored?
Perspective is an interesting thing.I seem to remember a charismatic leader who won the presidency twiceUnless he happens to be a Democrat. This video from 2009 shows that “Obama adoration” exists, and children are instilled into this indoctrination:
San Francisco Gate Columnist Mark Morford happily wrote Pay tribute to our 44th president to describe how Obama was “different” and that he was different from us:
This is where it becomes slimy. Many spiritually advanced people I know (please note that it’s not a cringing religious belief, but a very spiritual) view Obama as a lightworker, the kind of rare conciliator who has the ability to lead us not only to adopt new Foreign policy or health care plans or the like, but who can really help usher in A new way on earth, Are associated with and participate in this bizarre earth experiment. These people actually helped us develop. They are very advanced philosophers and peacemakers. They speak not only to reason or emotion, but also to the soul.
This is just one of the shining, dribbling, and flattering articles about Barack Obama written between 2008 and 2016.
So according to Spear’s metric,
As a victim of violence and cult leaders, I’m very sensitive to behavior with that smell. We must be wary of anyone who can control people so that they lose the ability to think independently. “
Benghazi, Ferguson, Fort Hood, Pulse Nightclub, Sandy Hook, All this happened during Obama’s glamorous presidency. When did Speier warn us, a political cult leader?
If Speer has such a sixth sense of charismatic leaders and their control over people, why didn’t she warn Bernie Sanders and his Bernie brothers? Daily Beast warn About them:
Sanders is trying to figure out how to channel the best part of this support-the engine behind him Mass gathering and Corresponding fundraising amountAs he Quarantined on Capitol Hill The impeachment of President Donald Trump’s trial-while preventing fanatical fans who might distract his campaign and shut down potential supporters.
In recent weeks, the intensity of Sanders’ fans’ attacks, driven mainly by social media, has risen sharply because of early state polls. Tighten Ranked among the top candidates in the Democratic Party, just as Sanders himself has also targeted to avoid the most direct attack on his candidacy.
Did Spear send letters about this form of extremism to the then majority leader Mitch McConnell or former President Trump? Does Sanders have all the characteristics of a political cult leader?
What did Bernie Sanders think when her supporter shot and was badly injured Rep. Steve Scarlis?
Scarlis, the majority whip in the House of Representatives at the time, was in Mass shooting During practice at the 2017 Annual Congressional Baseball Game in Alexandria, Virginia. Apart from the gunman, no other people were killed, but Scarlis, some congressional aides and two policemen were injured and no lives were in danger. 66-year-old James Hodgkinson (James Hodgkinson) was arrested at the scene and died of injuries during the arrest.
Before the shooting, Hodgkinson asked Ron DeSantis, then Florida State Representative, whether the team was a Republican or a Democrat. Hodgkinson is described as a supporter of Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign. The reporter found social media posts and letters sent by Hodgkinson to a local newspaper, including some posts asking Hillary Clinton, the then presidential candidate, to withdraw from the campaign.
Spear’s terrible experience in Jonestown did shape her opinion, and it was very distorted. Her view of political cult leaders and extremist behavior is neither farsighted nor insight; it is just a form of paranoia.
