We rarely have the opportunity to attribute journalism to CNN.
However, Jack Taper of CNN did do some journalistic work in an interview with Secretary of State Anthony Brinken today. He asked Blinken “Saigon‘ problem.

Tapper asked: “President Biden intends to avoid a Saigon moment. Of course, this refers to the hasty and humiliating withdrawal of the United States from Vietnam. But with this surge in airlifting Americans from Afghanistan, we are not already in Saigon. Is it time?”
Brinken’s reaction was delusional. “No, we are not,” he insisted, despite the fact that have occured.
“This is not Saigon. Twenty years ago, we went to Afghanistan with a mission. It was to deal with those who attacked us on 9/11. We have successfully completed this mission. Our goal-will Those who attacked us are brought to justice to ensure that they cannot attack us from Afghanistan again-we have successfully completed this task.”
He said they promised that al-Qaeda would not attack us from there again—and then continue to claim that staying there is not in the country’s national interest.

This is what Brinken himself claimed in July. He said they would not retreat, and he believed that the security situation between Friday and Monday would not deteriorate so quickly-this is exactly what happened.
