He said: “The intelligence community has assessed… an attack by an organization called Isis-K took the lives of American soldiers standing guard at the airport and severely injured several others.”

He added: “With regard to finding and tracking the ISIS leaders who ordered this operation, we have reason to believe that we know who they are. We are not sure. We will find the method of our choice without the need for large-scale military operations. Take it anywhere.”

Mr. Biden said that the Americans who lost their lives in the attack were “heroes,” and they “engaged in a dangerous and selfless mission to save the lives of others.”
