I often treat Senator Joe Manchin very harshly, and this is for good reason. In the past, in order to retain his seat in the crimson West Virginia, he often presented himself as an unshakable moderate, and at the same time compromised on major issues when he arrived in Washington.
However, I must give him credit. Under tremendous pressure from the extreme left in the party, Including leadership In Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, Manchin’s spine seemed to become stiff. I am not saying to believe him now, but this is a good sign.
Today, Manchin published a column in the Wall Street Journal, announcing that he would not agree with the huge, irresponsible, and freedom-damaging settlement budget proposed by the Democratic Party of $3.5 trillion. Instead, he urged a suspension to reduce matters.
MANCHIN op-ed: “First of all, I will not support the $3.5 trillion bill, or any additional spending close to that level, if there is no clearer explanation of why Congress chose to ignore the serious impact of inflation and debt on existing government programs.” https://t.co/1RAXOmCdBt

The country faces an unprecedented series of challenges, and it will inevitably encounter more crises in the future. However, some people in Congress have a strange belief that there is an unlimited supply of funds to deal with any current or future crises, and that spending trillions of dollars will not have a negative impact on the future. I disagree.
The overheated economy imposes a costly “inflation tax” on every middle class and working class in the United States. The country’s debt reached a record level of US$28.7 trillion, and it is still growing. In the past 18 months, we have spent more than $5 trillion in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, Democratic congressional leaders are proposing to pass the largest single-spending bill in history, regardless of rising inflation, severe debt shortage, or the inevitability of future crises. Ignoring the financial consequences of our policy choices will create a disastrous future for the next generation of Americans.
To be sure, there is some cunning language in it, but I think Manchin’s use of inflation is strategic, which is a major middle-class crushing problem. He knows that his party cannot resolve his concerns, so he can challenge them without hesitation, which gives him reason to gain a foothold. Remember, this is a senator from West Virginia. He once said that one day he might want to run for governor again. It is neither profitable nor profitable for Manchin to fold to the left.
It seems that he will not fight alone, because Senator Kyrsten Sinema also continues to lower the settlement bill.Although Manchin tried at least to appease his party with reasonable arguments, the film company continued to just Do whatever you want, Which drives her left-wing critics crazy.
All of this caused the extreme left to struggle desperately, trying to find a way to punish Manchin.
If Manchin and the cinema do not intend to do anything to help the Americans, democracy, and Biden’s agenda, they should punish them. It’s 2022. Deprive them of the committee and be tough until they cry uncle. Biden and Schumer should call out their names. https://t.co/8VjulFGTUg

As a Republican, nothing makes me more happy than seeing Schumer and the Democratic leadership scorched on Manchin. But I think they realize that they do not hold these cards, and if they do, they will only end up with Manchin changing parties and return the Senate to the Republicans.
This is the problem of the extreme left. They want to govern with an absolute majority, but they are far from reaching the number required to do so. All Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the world means that tweets will not change this. The frustration is obvious, but Manchin has no reason to throw bones at them. The smart way is to cheer him up and extract as much as possible from him. However, no one has ever accused the far left of being smart, so they instead complained on Twitter. This is good news for fiscal conservatives, because it may push Manchin to further corners.
In the end, I believe Manchin will agree to a certain level of spending that most Republicans are largely opposed to. However, when you do not get a majority, you must win where you can win. If Manchin succeeds in reducing the spoilers here, it will be a major victory. Let us hope he can hold the bottom line.
