Republican leader Kevin McCarthy may eventually get tired of Liz Cheney’s political conspiracy. Today, when asked about Cheney’s joint participation with Nancy Pelosi in the special committee on January 6, McCarthy said he did not remember when the last time he spoke with her, and called her “Pelosi Republican Party.” people”. Obviously, he is also talking about Adam Kinsinger, but honestly, who cares?
This represents another escalation between Cheney and the party she is still a member of, and it is clear that the relationship has not been repaired.
When asked whether Cheney and Kinsinger will be punished for serving on the January 6 committee, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy told me “we will see.” The last time he talked with any of them, I asked him: “I can’t tell you.” He called them “Pelosi Republicans.” pic.twitter.com/jMyjJBoq5I

As i wrote beforeCheney is a hypocrite, and her full support for the Pelosi Committee shows this. If she really followed the principles, she would not agree to bid for the Democratic Party. The chairman of the committee was the person who opposed the Electoral College in 2004, and another member opposed it in 2016. Cheney has repeatedly accused the Republicans of her opposition to the 2020 election, but she is actually allying with Democrats who have done the same thing. If it doesn’t make sense to you, then you are not the only one.
Of course, when you raise this contradiction with Cheney’s few remaining right-wing supporters (mainly composed of institutional commentators), they either do not respond or they avoid it. However, this is a fact that cannot be ignored, and Cheney and her defenders are doing their best to achieve this.
In addition, McCarthy’s assessment is correct. Cheney is a “Pelosi Republican” at this point, which is entirely her own choice. She threw her entire party under the bus to meet the needs of San Francisco liberals, who would call Cheney a war monger five minutes ago. A politician will commit a lifelong vendetta against her allies for disagreeing with her allies, and when they ask her to sit at the table of the cool kids, she forgives all the ills of the other party, which is quite sad.
For her part, Cheney called McCarthy’s comments “naive.”
Cheney told us that the comment was “very naive”

At this point, I can’t think of any more false appeals to etiquette than Cheney when he locked weapons with Nancy Pelosi. There is no serious work to be done here. On the contrary, there is a party investigation full of crazy conspiracy theorists (such as Adam Schiff and Benny Thompson) who will come to a predetermined conclusion that Republicans are evil and a threat. This conclusion will be used as the wedge problem in 2022. Everyone knows this is the drama here, including Cheney, but she is participating anyway.
Regarding who can become a Republican, I have never been a purist. I know that different parts of the country will produce different types of Republican elected officials. I can respond to Susan Collins of Maine and vote against Republicans because I understand the dynamics. I know that Republican representatives from New York may vote against tax cuts. These are things you can solve as a party.
But what happened to Cheney was not to subject her to some purity tests. She has transcended policy differences and entered the realm of working with the opposition to destroy her own party. This cannot be tolerated.
In other words, McCarthy’s condemnation is a welcome development, but he needs to go further. It’s time to remove Cheney from the Republican Caucus of the House of Representatives. This is the only step left.
