review – A cordless stick vacuum isn’t something I think I’ll ever need.We have a lidar-guided robotic vacuum that handles several tasks a week, a more traditional upright vacuum for deep cleaning, and an older corded vacuumVacuum cleaner for spot cleaning. So when I got the chance to review the Levoit cordless vacuum, I thought it would be interesting, but I was skeptical. I’m wrong. It’s easy and fun to use when I Seeing the amount of dirt it picks up, I wonder how I got through it none.

Design and Features
The LEVOIT Vortex IQ 40 cordless stick vacuum has a main head unit that contains the filter, bin, battery, filter, motor, disPlay and control. All accessories go directly to the main unit. These accessories are all modular. Want to use a crevice tool with extensions to hide behind your dryer? you can. Want to use a carpet unit without extension tubes to clean small rugs? no problem.

Probably my favorite feature in the LEVOIT Vortex IQ 40 Cordless Stick Vacuum is the automatic suction. The vacuum monitors dust levels and adjusts suction accordingly. This optimizes cleaning and battery life. Of course, you can always adjust the power manually, but I’ve never felt the need to.
The Levoit Vortex IQ 40 comes with a convenient storage base to charge the battery and store accessories when not in use. You can also charge the battery by plugging the charger directly into the battery instead of plugging it into the base – if you want to take the vacuum with you but leave the base behind (this is a good idea as it may be bolted to your wall).

The unit can be easily disassembled without any tools for clearing paper jams, cleaning or changing filters. Speaking of filters, there are three in all. The first is located in the litter box and is made of perforated metal. You never need to replace this – just rinse in the sink. The other two are standard pleated paper filters that are easy to replace but can also be rinsed in water.

Equipped with LED lights for vacuuming in dim conditions or under furniture, the electric carpet unit can be easily disassembled to clear blockages or remove hair from the electric brush.

Performance
Having never used a vacuum cleaner before, I was impressed by the lightness and maneuverability of the LEVOIT Vortex IQ 40 Cordless Vacuum. Clearly this is not a unit that I don’t want to vacuum. Great if you live in a small space, or use it to grab small clutter. It’s also great for getting into areas that conventional vacuums can’t reach.it will Just taking too long to do your whole house. Save it for a larger unit or a robot vacuum.

The filters in Levoit are very nice. The first thing I did with the vacuum was to clean up some of the ash that had spilled from the wood stove. Ash is very good and often passes through many vacuum filters. This is not the case. Ash is also notorious for clogging filters that can’t get through, drastically reducing suction power. Did not notice a drop in suction. gave me a deep impression.
Carpet tools are great for removing dust, hair, and other grime from carpets. It also works well on hardwood floors, which is mostly what we have in our house. One of the best features of the carpet tool is its low profile. Simply rotate the unit 90 degrees to either side and you can slide the entire unit under any gap greater than 3 inches or so. This is great for getting into dusty areas under sofas and other furniture.

This ability to clean the big unclean is where I ran into the Levoit’s first limitation. The litter box is small. Once in dusty territory, it fills up quickly. If you haven’t noticed, trash can clog up the top of the bin around the filter, making emptying difficult and messy. This is mostly user error as I didn’t notice it was full, but it would be nice to have a bigger bin.
The carpet unit also features LED headlights. They’re useful for seeing the abyss under the couch, but not so useful when vacuuming in dimly lit corners.

The accessories for the LEVOIT Vortex IQ 40 cordless stick vacuum cleaner are helpful and well designed. The crevice tool is especially unique because it is retractable. Have deep cracks? This tool can help.I was able to use the crevice tool along with the extension tube to clean and Behind the washer and dryer – a task that previously required moving both devices. Dusting tools are also useful and are available in two different configurations, for hard and soft surfaces. I have found it to be very effective for removing dog hair from furniture. I also use it to remove dust from vents and ceiling fan blades very effectively.
Vacuum cleaners always seem to ask two big questions, how do they vacuum, and how is the battery life? For the first question, I would say that the Levoit Vortex is excellent at picking up dirt. This is the first time I’ve used a vacuum with a clear bin, so it was a bit of an eye opener to actually see dust being picked up and deposited in the bin. Let’s just say it’s a lot more than I imagined. For battery life, I am deep impression. While using the unit for this review, I literally walked around my house and vacuumed everything I could find. I even go out and vacuum the car. I barely dented the battery. I think the automatic suction setting played a big part in this – if I manually turned the suction up and left it there, I’m sure the battery would drop faster. However, if you use the automatic setting and don’t try to clean the entire 4000 square foot house, it should be fine.
what do I like
- It’s lightweight and easy to handle
- Attachments make sense and work well
- Cradle and charger in one
- quiet
- Automatic function works well
what would i change
- need bigger bins
- A hose for expansion will increase usability in small areas, such as vacuuming a car.
- The drywall anchors used to attach the base are of poor quality and cannot be secured.
final thoughts
As it turns out, vacuuming isn’t a “one size fits all” job. Given that floors are the ultimate repository for a lot of clutter in our homes, it makes sense to have a few different tools for dealing with those clutter. The Levoit VortexIQ 40 cordless vacuum cleaner is a great addition to help us clean up the dust bunnies, dirt marks and pet hair that accumulate in our homes in our daily lives.
