MediaTek Dimensity 1300 vs 1050 vs 930 vs 920 Chipset Comparison – Two New Mid-Range 5G SOCs

Sharing is caring!

Today, MediaTek announced two new 5G chipsets for its rapidly expanding Dimensity series.

According to MediaTek, the two new chipsets belong to the lower end of the premium line, and I would describe them as mid-to-high end.

Both chipsets are slightly different than expected. They both use the same manufacturing process and CPU design we saw on the MediaTek Dimensity 920, but they completely change the GPU.

This also leads to a naming convention mismatch.

The new Mediatek Dimensity 1050, which you would expect to sit between the Dimensity 1000 and 1100, features a 4×4 CPU design. However, it has the same CPU as the Dimensity 930 and 920 thanks to the 2×6 CPU arrangement. However, it uses the more modern Arm-Mali G610 GPU compared to the Mali-G68 MC4 on the 920.

Dimensity 930 is completely different from Dimensity 810

Well the Dimensity 930 has 2xA78 CPU cores and 6xA55 as expected; however, MediaTek ditched the Arm Mali-based GPU they use on most chipsets in favor of the Imagination BXM-2-256.

Looking at the Mediatek timeline graph, they are targeting the Dimensity 1050 below 1000 and 1100 and then the Dimensity 930 below 920.

Not confusing at all. What matters, however, is price versus performance, and MediaTek has a solid track record here.

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 Features

  • Supports true dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA) and dual VoNR.
  • Ultra-fast 144Hz Full HD+ display with MediaTek’s MiraVision 760 for intense, vibrant colors.
  • Dual HDR video capture engines, enabling users to stream using the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
  • Excellent noise reduction for low-light photos, MediaTek’s APU 550 improves AI camera action.
  • Wi-Fi 6E supports superior power efficiency and 2×2 MIMO antennas for faster, more reliable connections.

MediaTek Dimensity 930 Features

The Dimensity 930 enables 5G smartphones to download data faster and stay connected anywhere via 2CC-CA, including hybrid duplex FDD+TDD for higher speeds and greater coverage. Designed to capture vivid detail, it features MiraVision HDR video playback and display for 120Hz Full HD+ monitors and HDR10+ video. Additionally, HyperEngine 3.0 Lite gaming enhancements bring intelligent multi-network management to ensure lower latency for a smooth user experience and maximize battery life.
