review – One of the most popular accessories for the iPad is the Apple Pencil, but like all Apple products, there is a $99 premium for the first-generation version and $129 for the latest. It’s hard to spend that much money on a stylus after going over budget on an iPad. Today, I’m going to show you the MKQ Stylus, an Apple Pencil alternative that can save you some cash. let’s see.
What is it?
The MKQ Stylus Pen is an Apple Pencil replacement for the Apple iPad. Compatible with iPad 2018 and later. This stylus can no Works with Android tablet, iPhone or Microsoft tablet.
What’s in this box?
- MKQ Stylus
- stylus cap
- 3 extra nibs
- 1 additional USB-C port cover
- USB-C charging cable
- User Manual
Design and Function
In the picture above, can you tell which stylus is the Apple Pencil and which is the MKQ stylus? At a quick glance, it’s hard to tell if you haven’t used the Apple Pencil before.
The MKQ stylus has a similar color and shape to the Apple Pencil, down to the flat edge, and serves two purposes. It keeps the stylus from rolling off your desk, and there’s an embedded magnet on the edge that allows the MKQ stylus to attach to the edge of the iPad like the Apple Pencil.
But unlike the Apple Pencil, the MKQ Stylus doesn’t charge when connected to an iPad. The MKQ charges via a USB-C cable. There is a removable plastic cover over the charging port. That means you’re bound to lose that little bit of coverage within the first day or so of using this stylus. That’s probably why there is an extra cover in the box.
While the stylus is charging, the charging percentage will be displayed on the stylus’ barrel (LED battery level indicates poor shooting).
The MKQ stylus comes with a cap to protect the tip when the stylus is not in use.

The stylus tip is removable and replaceable. They even include 3 extra tips in the box. Side note: These tips also apply to Apple Stylus.
How to use the MKQ stylus on the iPad
After charging the stylus, make sure you have Bluetooth enabled on the iPad, then double-tap the top of the stylus to power it on. From there, it should magically connect and start working. Double-click the top again to close it.

Battery Life
I can’t get a good idea of how long a full charge lasts, but the MKQ stylus has smart power saving and long standby time. It will automatically shut down after 10 minutes of inactivity. The stylus can be fully charged in 90 minutes, but it only takes 5 minutes to charge for about 30 minutes.
what do I like
- Attaches to the side of the iPad like the Apple Pencil
- Comes with 3 extra stylus tips
- palm rejection
- Battery capacity display
what would i change
- Since it’s already attached to the side of the iPad, it can also be charged there
- Add pressure sensitivity
final thoughts
If you have an iPad and like to draw or take notes, a stylus is a must-have accessory. In my opinion, the Apple Pencil is the best stylus on the iPad, but it’s also very expensive. If your budget doesn’t allow you to buy the Apple Pencil, the MKQ iPad stylus is one of the most affordable and feature-rich alternatives I’ve tested to date.
