Review – If you don’t use a protective case, today’s smartphones may be very slippery, and even with a protective case, it would be awkward to hold and use them without two hands. This is why handles like PopSocket have become so popular. Now MOFT has entered the same field with their new MOFT x Popl Tap-To-Connect Stand & Grip. let’s see.
What is it?
MOFT x Popl Tap-To-Connect Stand & Grip is a disk that can be connected to the back of the phone to provide a handle, stand, and NFC tag that can share contact information with other people/phones.
What’s in the package?

- MOFT x Popl Tap-To-Connect stand and handle
- Snap phone sticker
- Transparent glass sticker
- User manual
Install

MOFT x Popl (I will call it Popl from now on) has a built-in magnet on the back, which means it can easily be used with new iPhones with MagSafe. If you have one of these phones, just take the Popl out of the package and stick it on the back of the phone.

If you plan to use Popl with other phones, you need to add the attached Snap Phone Sticker that I showed above.

Also, if you have a phone with a glass back cover, you need to stick the attached glass sticker on the back of the phone before using the Snap phone sticker.

I tested the MOFT x Popl with an iPhone 12 Pro Max with a glass back cover, so I stuck the MOFT Glass sticker on the back of my bare phone. As you can see, the result is very ugly. Oops.

Then you can peel and paste the phone sticker.

I don’t know why the glass sticker is square and much larger than Popl, but you can see that it is not attractive.

Then Popl itself will be glued to the back of the phone. Please note that you can stick Popl directly on the back of iPhone 12 series phones without using additional stickers. However, adding a phone sticker does make the accessory feel stronger than without a sticker. But like any MagSafe accessory, the strength of the accessory is not very strong. I just took the phone out of my pocket and Popl popped up.
Design and features
The main function of Popl is as a stand or handle. Popl becomes a stand after unfolding, you can use the phone horizontally or vertically. You can also remove the Popl from the back of the phone and use it to support the phone vertically or sideways. The only problem with using it this way is that you only need to balance the phone on the stand. The magnet in Popl does not stick to the phone.
When using Popl as the handle as shown in the picture above, you still need to hold both sides with your fingers, because I don’t believe that the magnet will fix Popl on the back of the phone when something hits the back of the phone while holding the phone.
Popl application
Another feature of MOFT x Popl is that it has an NFC tag built into the outer surface. You can use this tag to share your contact information with friends.
To do this, you must download an app and register for their service, and create a profile that contains all your social media accounts and other contact information. Please note that some platforms require you to pay for a professional version of the Popl account in order to share this information. The Pro upgrade is $4.99 per month or $47.99 a year. I don’t know you, but I hate the company selling products, but only give you part of the feature set, allowing you to spend extra money to buy the remaining features.

When you touch your phone on the back of someone else’s phone, they will see your information, as shown in the picture above.
what do I like
- Detachable phone holder and handle
What will i change
- The glass sticker is too big and looks ugly
- Includes all NFC functions at no extra charge
- too expensive
Final thoughts
I like MOFT’s other iPhone and iPad device holders, but I don’t have a deep impression of MOFT x Popl Tap-To-Connect Stand & Grip. I think they need to include the option to connect it semi-permanently to the back of the device because I don’t believe in the strength of the magnet. I also think they charge $40 for this stand and do not provide you with all the features unless you sign up for the professional version of the app, which is a bit bad.
