review – Speakers – We need them to share the music and text we’re listening to, and there are countless options. Today, I’m going to review the Monoprice Harmony Capsule 200 speaker, which is a capsule/cylindrical speaker system.

Design and Features
There are many speaker systems that look almost identical to the Monoprice Harmony Capsule 200 speakers. Some are backed by international marketing campaigns, and some come from small, unknown companies. Monoprice is a company that manufactures commodity electronics. (For over a decade, I’ve been recommending friends and clients to find weird cables because they have all the cables known to man!) So, that’s the background I came up with this device.
At 8.5″ x 3.5″, it’s by no means an impressive driver, but it produces sound that’s well above average. As long as the speaker and source are stationary, the build quality is excellent, and the Bluetooth connection is solid. If it’s paired with your phone, put it down or you’ll be seen stuttering and jumping. I found the sound quality to be excellent, both for spoken words on podcasts and audiobooks, and for music. There’s a 0.125-inch audio input, as well as a USB-C jack and a TF card slot under the waterproof flip cover.
Performance
Now I’m listening to Rita Coolidge sing Super star from Mad Dog and the British Joe Cocker & Friends album – one of my freshman dorm favorites. (I never tire of listening to Leon Russell!) If my college freshman was told my voice matched those giant speakers, we would drag a pipe-sized bottle of wine in the dorm hallway on weekends , I would never believe it! I have 50% volume on my deck and I’m worried I’ll piss off the neighbors. We never worry about those things in the dorm.

final thoughts
The size of the speakers often affects volume and sound quality. With matching speakers on both ends, the Monoprice Harmony Capsule 200 can easily fill most rooms. For larger spaces and outdoors, it will give you enough sound that you don’t have to worry about local noise ordinances, while maintaining good sound quality. I was impressed that the clarity of the sound remained the same no matter how loud or soft you set the volume. Most speakers of this type have a “sweet spot” where the sound is clear, but below or above that notch. No matter what volume I choose, this speaker is clear and accurate. As someone who loves the nuances of live performances, I really like this feature.
