Design and features

set up

After taking out the Monoprice SB-300 virtual Dolby Atmos soundbar package, you need to install the triple A battery into the remote control. Then plug the soundbar into the power cord. this is very simple. Plug and play.

It also comes with mounting brackets and hardware. We did not install the soundbar, but if you decide to do so, you can use the 4 included wall mounting screws to mount the brackets, 892 mm apart.

The soundbar is less than 40 inches wide. We prefer to let our entertainment center sit in front of the TV.

The sound system provides multiple ways to connect to your equipment:

  • 2 HDMI inputs (HDMI must be used for Dolby Atmos®)
  • HDMI Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) output
  • Coaxial socket
  • Light socket
  • 3.5mm analog audio input
  • USB
  • Bluetooth

There is a digital display on the front of the soundbar to confirm which connection you are using (AUX, OPT/COA, HDMI 1 or 2, HDMI eARC).

Performance

We connect the Monoprice SB‑300 virtual Dolby Atmos soundbar to multiple devices in a variety of ways, including connecting to the iPhone via Bluetooth, connecting to the TV using an optical port, and connecting to the Playstation 4 via HDMI.

It’s very easy to connect.

What attracted us to this special soundbar was Dolby Atmos®, so it’s a bit disappointing to know this Dolby Atmos® Only available in HDMI mode.

We use sound bars mainly for listening to music (Bluetooth) and watching movies and TV (optical). The sound quality is good, and for the soundbar without a separate subwoofer, the pitch is better than we expected.

But we want to test and compare Dolby Atmos® or not, so we use HDMI to connect Playstation 4. Mason tried to play a video game and noticed the sound improvement immediately after the start menu appeared. He said clearly, “It feels like you are there.” When using Dolby Atmos®, the sound quality is definitely different.

Using the remote control is intuitive, in most cases, through the power button, mute, volume up and down, treble and bass. Some additional features include:

  • The play/pause button is also used to activate Bluetooth pairing or disconnect the currently paired device, just press and hold it.
  • You can adjust the surround sound by clicking the vertical/surround buttons under the mute/volume buttons.
  • The equalizer button allows you to adjust the effect between voice, sports, movie and music.
  • The dimmer button at the very bottom allows you to adjust the brightness of the soundbar display.

If for some reason you are not using the remote control, you can also use the control buttons of the soundbar itself: power, signal source, Bluetooth pairing, mute, volume up and down (from left to right).

what do I like

  • Easy to install
  • Good sound quality

What will i change

  • Dolby Atmos® for additional connection

Final thoughts

Monoprice SB-300 Virtual Dolby Atmos Soundbar is a high-quality speaker system, especially in terms of price.caution Dolby Atmos Only available in HDMI mode.
