My Favorite New England Fall Foliage Spots


Feels like this is the perfect time to update where I’m visiting New England this fall. We’re getting close to the peak foliage in Woodstock, which is much earlier than last year, and the color is gorgeous. The town is already packed with voyeurs and tourists enjoying all that Vermont has to offer in the fall.

While fall doesn’t last long (long enough), it’s spectacular, and there are so many amazing places to see fall foliage in New England. In addition to nature’s amazing show, there’s something in the air in New England in the fall. It’s hard to describe, but it’s an amazing experience. I’m used to experiencing fall foliage later in the season, having lived in Rhode Island most of my life. Now that we’re in Vermont in the fall, we can see the vibrant display faster. Happily, you can experience fall foliage at many different times from September to November, depending on where you go throughout New England. If you want to come to New England in the fall, trust me, it’s worth it. Here are some of my favorite places to see fall foliage in New England, and I promise you can’t go wrong.

Woodstock, Vermont

I must start with the most charming town we call home, Woodstock, Vermont. It’s beautiful, charming, quaint, and it’s conveniently located in Boston and New York City. We love it so much we literally moved here in 2020! From winding country roads to beautiful old farmhouses and charming country shops, Woodstock is quintessentially New England. They also have great food and tons of activities. Peak foliage varies by weather, but is happening this year (late September/early October).

Camden, Maine

Craig and I went Camden In early October a few years ago, it did not disappoint.Charming seaside town less than 2 hours away Portland. It was surprisingly quiet during our visit, I think it’s more of a summer destination, so it’s even more special because we feel like we own it. The peak period usually starts around early October.

North Conway, NH

There’s nothing more fun than driving along Kancamangus during peak fall foliage season in New Hampshire. It’s a sight that will take your breath away. North Conway is a charming New Hampshire town located in the valley of Mount Washington. If you’re looking for a laid-back, low-key vibe, look no further than New Hampshire. There are many hiking and scenic destinations around North Conway and the White Mountains.

Drive the scenic drive along Highway 112 from North Conway to Lincoln.For an easy but stunning walk to echo lake state park. If you’re looking for more hikes, check out cathedral ledge (It’s also a popular climbing spot, my dad and brother have done it a few times). Incredible views from the top of North Conway and the White Mountains.exist Polly’s Pancake Shop (This is actually in Sugar Mountain).If you have an appetite for hiking, check out barley and salt. The peak period is usually mid-October.

Newport, Rhode Island

Do you think I won’t leave my hometown?our deciduous season Newport A bit later than other destinations in the north, usually mid to late October to November, but it’s absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite things about fall is that it’s usually still mild weather, so you can get the perfect temperature and stunning scenery.

Walk around Point to see the charming colony decorated for fall. The island is full of stunning foliage, take a walk along Bellevue Avenue or take a boat trip along Ocean Drive.choose your own Sweetberry Farm and Rocky Creek Orchards. an annual tradition, Harvest Expo There are many local food vendors and are kid friendly. Trinity Church in town has a pumpkin patch every year, check their website for dates.
