NBC News has a comprehensive McAuliffe report on worried parents-RedState

The problem is that they think your child belongs to the country, not you. This is why so many left-wingers are so disturbed by the idea that parents will not hesitate to question the materials their children teach in class.

Author Christina Wyman (Christina Wyman) for NBC News She believes that parents should not be involved in deciding what their children are learning. This article is a useful exercise for “appealing to authority” Logical fallacy, As the author basically believes, because educators are expert, They themselves should decide the content of the courses taught to the students.

Wyman claims that parents oppose Critical Race Theory (CRT) and other problematic ideas “like entering an operating room and thinking that you can interfere with surgery just because the patient is your child.”

She wrote:

Part of the problem is that parents believe that they have the right to control teaching and learning because their children are educated. But it actually (gasp!) doesn’t work like this. It’s a bit like entering the operating room, thinking that you can interfere with the operation just because the patient is your child.

The author continued, stating that “[t]Everyone is also a science” and “parents are not qualified to make decisions about courses unless they are licensed and certified. “

She argued:

In fact, parental intervention can actually hinder students’ progress. The main goal of educators is to teach students to think. Parents who try to influence the curriculum with personal opinions, ideologies, and prejudices can hinder this goal.

Strangely, she disputed that her parents tried to use “ideology” and “prejudice” to influence education, but in fact the school taught CRT and arousalism elements, and they actually injected ideology into their curriculum. Obviously, the ideology in the classroom is not a problem-as long as it conforms to the so-called progressive thinking. Reminds me of a sentence: “Always accuse your opponent of your guilt.”

Hyman went on to list the various steps she took to become an educator. She talked endlessly about the extensive education she and other educators received. All of this should give her and her kind a message to their parents: we are experts. you do not. So sit down and shut up.

The author continues:

This is why parents and politicians continue to work hard to shape the curriculum by targeting book choices, the type of history taught in the classroom, and even the specific terminology used in the classroom should be ignored. These disturbances are nothing more than drama, and school boards and administrators should protect their teachers and students from it, rather than succumb to it.

Hyman also wrote:

But beyond that, parents, community members and politicians who are not qualified to teach should be indifferent to school curricula. The main goal of teachers should be to teach children to think independently, and parental regulations on the curriculum will interfere with the cultivation of this independence.

For various reasons, the author’s argument is flawed. Take her analogy of surgery as an example. What she lacks is that parents are the ones who decide what type of medical procedures to perform on their children. In most cases, surgeons are not allowed to operate on children against the wishes of their parents.

The same principle applies here. Just because educators have received the necessary training to educate children does not mean that parents should not be allowed to interfere with the materials their children get in class.Years of education and training does not mean that these people are automatically entitled instill The child enters a specific ideology. This of course does not mean that teachers should be able to inject ideas about “whiteness” and distinguishing students based on skin color into their curriculum.

What the left is striving for is the reality that parents know what is best for their children. They may not understand the “science” of teaching, but they know what type of material is harmful to their children. This is a common sense concept that the Democratic Party has failed to grasp. In fact, this particular problem is one of the main reasons Terry McAuliffe Was destroyed in the Virginia governor election because he echoed these sentiments. If this article shows any signs, it is clear that the left has not learned its lesson.
