The Nisei Veterans Committee (NVC) and NVC Foundation held their 77th Annual Memorial Day Service at Lakeview Cemetery.
Attendees gathered at the Nisei War Memorial, a 22-foot-tall granite obelisk with inscriptions of the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, and Granada fallen name.
The ceremony began with a display of colors from the Seattle Buddhist Temple Scout 252, Christian and Buddhist prayers and meditations, a keynote address by Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs, and ended with a display of garlands.
Over the years, the service has become one of the oldest and largest Memorial Day services in the Pacific Northwest.
