Thanks to an extremely long support cycle, the Nvidia Shield has been one of the best consumer technologies in years. Nvidia is now continuing support with the rollout of Android 11 with SHIELD Experience 9.0.
My Nvidia Shield TV Pro is 7 years old now, and I can’t think of any other tech I own that’s that old. Granted, my consumerist nature does mean I want Nvidia to come out with a new Shield so it can be better than it is now.
Streaming upgrades
Google Play Movies & TV adds stunning Dolby Vision HDR for an unparalleled movie experience on SHIELD TV.
Also added IMDb TV, which has some good shows like Leverage: Redemption and Alex Rider. Although these are already available under Amazon Prime.
If you’re in the US, you can also get six months of Peacock Premium for free.

But it’s not all good – ads and no automatic refresh rate matching
It’s worth noting that Nvidia has gotten some flak lately for the way they changed the home screen to include ads. Personally, I barely noticed, I went straight into Plex/Netflix.
The device still doesn’t have automatic refresh rate matching, still no HDR10+, it’s just HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
