Oklahoma governor sentenced Julius Jones to death for murder – RedState

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt just stopped executing the death row inmate Julius Jones, shortly before he was executed for murder 22 years ago.

From NBC News:

Stitt said in a statement: “After pious consideration and review of the materials submitted by all parties in this case, I decided to reduce Julius Jones’ sentence to life imprisonment without parole.”

“I want to say thank you to our respected governor, thank you, thank God, thank Jesus,” Jones’ sister Antoinette Jones said shortly after the news was announced in the governor’s office. “I want to thank you all for continuing to tell the story of Julius. Thank you the world.”

Although many people who defended Jones and believed him to be innocent expressed their gratitude for the decision, the victim’s family considered him guilty.

As this is breaking news, RedState will provide further updates as they become available.
