Erin Okuno
Governor Jay Inslee announced on September 6 the appointment of Erin Okuno as Director of the Office of Education Ombudsman (OEO). Okuno will take over as director Yordanos Gebreamlak.
OEO is critical to closing the opportunity gap by supporting families, students, educators and communities to understand the public K-12 education system.
Prior to this appointment, Okuno served as Executive Director of the Southeast Seattle Education Alliance since 2014.
“I have worked with OEO staff in the past, and I am excited to join and learn with this outstanding team to better serve communities of color and improve the education of our most disadvantaged students,” Okuno said.
She holds a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Seattle University.
Her appointment will take effect on November 1.
