Poco F4 GT vs Black Shark 5 Pro

Last year’s Poco F3 GT didn’t make it to the UK, so I’m ignoring the new gaming trigger it uses.

When I realized that the Poco F4 GT has triggers, it sounded very similar to Black Shark, another Xiaomi-related brand.

Spec-wise, there are a lot of similarities, but also a lot of differences.

Check out the Poco F4 GT and compare it to the standard Black Shark 5 and Pro models:

  • All phones have the same size display and the same resolution, but the Poco F4 GT has a slower refresh rate of 120Hz
  • Although all phones use AMOLED displays, they all have side-mounted fingerprint scanners
  • The dimensions are very similar, but the Poco is slightly thinner.
  • The Poco F4 GT and the Black Shark 5 Pro share the same chipset, but the Black Shark 5 Pro has 256GB of base storage, and it’s also the first phone to combine UFS 3.1/NVMe SSD storage.
  • The standard Black Shark 5 has very similar camera specs to the Poco, but with a larger 13MP ultra-wide lens. Poco has a larger 20MP selfie camera than the two Black Shark phones. Featuring an impressive 108 MP Samsung sensor, the Black Shark 5 Pro is the first time a Black Shark phone has a high-quality camera.
  • All three phones have similar batteries. The Poco has 4700 mAh and 120W charging, while the Black Shark model has 4650 mAh and 120W.

overall

I like the trigger on the shoulder Black Shark 3 ProI’m excited to see them see wider adoption in phones.

If you don’t care much about the best camera on your phone, the Poco F4 GT looks like a great choice for an affordable device. I’m not too sure it’ll be rolled out globally, but I hope it will.
